Stupid things people have said about 944's

Having owned so many European cars I could tell you story after story. Nothing pisses off a Triumph owner more than calling it a Fiat or MG.
But strangely enough I have never gotten anything but compliments about the 944. Usually people think it is far better than it actually is. Not sure why, but that seems to be the normal. I have gotten anything from, "that thing must be fast as hell", to "you must be rich to own a Porsche" Granted I live in a rural area where most people own Ferds and the like, but I still dont get it.

After a 5 minute argument over the phone as the guy insisted no car has rear CV-Joints I asked if he ever worked on a Porsche before - dead silence - and I took the car to Green Bay to my original mechanic.

Ok, so I just graduated college. Now that I am an alumni, all the correspondence I get is from the schools auto racing club asking me about the horrors behind changing my clutch...
I'm like, well yea; but I can remove the cam shaft without taking the head off the car...

I told him I had to go, picked up my keys from behind the counter and never looked back.
Try buying a CV joint for a driveshaft. The TR8 has CV jointed driveshafts. You can just imagine the looks and stupid remarks I got from that one.

I always loved the ads for cars that say V4 in a Porsche, or V6 in a Toyota Supra.
The other one is "Lady Owned and driven". Is this supposed to make me want to buy that poorly maintained car with previous damage all over it????? I have a wife and know better. I am in the process of updating the maintainance on the wife's 100k BMW because no matter how much I nagged her, she never took it in for maintanance.

I try to avoid talking to the people at autozone altogether now. I have lost faith in those employees ever since my stepbrother worked there. I walk in, grab my bottle of wax and shop rags, pay and leave.

A few years back, I was driving my 968 cab and pulled into a parking lot just in time to see a silver Boxster pulling in. I pulled up to park near the guy (he was late 50's, early 60's) and asked him how he liked his Porsche. He went into a five minute conversation about how he babied the Boxster (door dings up and down the sides of the car!), how rare it was and whatnot. The guy was obviously clueless about his car, PCA, track events, etc. He finished up his monologue by stating" if you work really hard, some day YOU might get to own a Porsche too!" Without saying another word, I got back in my 968 and drove to the other side of the parking lot and parked there instead.
