Default Tips for Rear P O R S C H E logo removal/reapply

The list of 'things to do' gets added to. Here's one for the 'cosmetic list'

The PO had the car resprayed, which was a first class job, but I think the bodyshop guy paused for a few steins of ale, before he decided to apply the rear stick on logo.

Whats the best way to remove it, without damaging the paintwork, so I can reapply another that is at least in a straight line?

I've used a heat gun before..to remove wallpaper and also paint from door frames!

Blade to lift decal, then peel - will this not lift paint?

Nope. Heat it enough and the adhesive will melt. I usually use the blade to work up the edge and then I peel by hand the rest of the way.

when re-applying make sure get one whole sticker as opposed to letter by letter...

this way you'lll have a better chance of getting this straight

You can also use a striping eraser and it will take the decal right off without abusing your paint. If it is freshly applied it should come off without much effort. be careful with the blade, new paint is pretty soft. You can also use dental floss to peel up the corners. the floss won't harm the paint. The new OEM decal is in two sections.

What about tips on the application. I have a sticker sitting in my closet that needs to be applied, but I have be nervous about making it into a $30 trash can liner. Any tools, sprays, cleaners?

use a plastic blade/putty knife to lift the edge, the decal actually comes off pretty easy opposed to the 3m stone guards.

to apply use a water bottle with a few drops of dish soap, it cant be too wet (we all know that ) this will let you apply it and adjust it, then use a credit card or drivers liscense to work out the air bubbles, after its on, let it sit for about 5 min before peeling back the backing, and watch to make sure it isnt lifting the decal.. then step back and admire your work

I applied mine. It's pretty straightforward. The sticker comes in two pieces, you obviously need to do some measuring to make sure you the R and S line up properly and are spaced appropriately. I believe that I used either scotch or masking tape to line up the edge of the decal application sheet so that I was sure I was in the right place while sticking it on. Just go slowly and smooth carefully as you go one letter at a time -- the application sheet on top of the decal prevents you from stretching it or otherwise screwing up the spacing. I'm not particularly good at these sorts of arts and crafts projects, but mine came out perfectly, so it's very doable.

i believe its even spaced correctly if you have the two ends just meet together.. all you have to do is center the "s" and it should be good, i eye-balled mine and cant tell
