Yeah, I'd say maybe this fall I'll spring for the alcantara dash from you Rob. Step 1, get car on the road/track. Step 2, make it look good.

I'll pop for an early dash style as soon as you have them sorted, either alcantara or Porsche vinyl

Good job, Greg!
Anxious to hear the outcome - this looks like a winner.

This is great work Rob. I was on the verge of getting a hard plastic cover... this is a much better solution. Later this summer or maybe in the fall I'll be looking to get one. I'm anxious to see how the airbag dash cover comes out. Now I just have to choose... vinyl... leather... or ooh!, alcantara!

How interesting. I have my airbag dash sitting in my living room about to go off to get fixed. I would much rather do this in leather.

Very cool, I'm in for one.

Rob, I just sent you PayPal payment for a late 944 non airbag vinyl dash cover. I am almost giddy with anticipation.

Now, can anyone offer advice how to get the dash off?

Anyone interested in a nice carpeted dash cover black with red "944" emboidered on it above the glove box?

Sasquatch: There's a very detailed dash removal procedure at www.clarks-garage.com

While I haven't had the dash out I have disassembled most of the pieces necessary to get to the dash. None of it is hard, it's just a lot of pieces & parts. Be methodical in putting fasteners in well labelled bags and takes pics of anything tricky and you'll be fine.

And I definitely share the giddyness!

Schwank(Eric S), don't you have a leather dash in your car?
Why indeed I do aribop... and out to the garage I go for pics.

Note I am a VERY interested customer, if only for the lower section. The doofus PPO or whoever decided to drill through a nice OEM leather dash for a mobile phone. Then again, whoever originally owned my car was a pimp, they had the full option late 80s Code Alarm and a built in cell phone. All very annoying to rip out of the wiring harness.

Anyway, the pics. The stitching is pretty plain, just some grey vertical thread on the end caps near the doors, and matching stitch on the glovebox surround. Nothing on the side ends of the dash or anywhere around the steering wheel.
PM me if you need any more detail pics, sorry they are so crappy right now, it's twilight and the garage lighting is only ok. No that's not a tear in the driver side. No that's not rust on the pass. door. I hate this point and shoot

Rob cant wait for pics of the early model dash, will it include the center console covered?.

Put me down for a black leather/red stitching - whats your deal with UPS air shipping to the Land Downunder, for the kit only?

Thanks!
I'm have a couple vendors looking into pricing, colors and availability of alcantra. I'll post the info when they get back to me.

Thanks Very much. It'll be going out tomorrow.

Let me know if you're doing the install yourself or will have a professional do it.
