Default Im ready for Nelson's! G-Force Equipt!

got my g-force racing 6pt harnesses yesterday and finished up removing the stock belts-front and rear- and installing the new belts today. I know, some people use the stocks in town but im hard core! Work pretty well even w/ the stock seats, need to do some more adjusting to get them perfect still but heres what i got.

Dan, not trying to put a damper on you here, but I could've sworn it was more dangerous due to the ability of the belts to slip off your shoulders with stock seats.

i still need to get the h-belt that holds them together behind the seat itself, but they do not slide down whatsoever if you sinch them down snug. I could see where loose they would slide off your shoulders. I am eventually going to get some sort of race seat also. There are several people in the PCA that run this setup and it seems to work for them no problems. Believe me when these things strap you in they are snug! I buckled in to go to work this morning and had to undo them to close my door!

nice seats. how the two strap on the bottom go. inbetween or outside your legs?

Dan, k, glad to see you've full researched it. Hate to see something unfortunate happen.

Campeck, Sparco ones are, but I believe they are the only ones that have cared to get the DOT approval.

in between. I have to do some adjusting on those to get them in as far as possible so they arent rubbing my legs constantly. Yeah im sure that they arent street legal technically, my car doesnt see the street as much as it used to either. If i get a ticket for the belts i guess ill think about putting the stocks back in, i just hate to have all of those belts hanging everywhere like a friggin swingset or something.

Also aren't you supposed to essentially sit on the crotch belts and have them mounted back by the lap belts? From what I understand, the 6 points were developed for open wheel cars that didn't have the clearance to mount a sub belt below the seat.

They do make add on sternum straps for use with a seat without locating slots.

Also, I happen to have a a red Recaro SRD for sale that would look great in that car

do you have any info on mounting the sub belt, the g-force website has no info on mounting it. I wish you had two of those seats so i could put matching ones in my car. How much for that one?

I recently swapped out the belts in my car. I had a Simpson 4 point with stock seats, and while it never happened while driving, I could slide my shoulder straps off the shoulder. I upgraded to Simpson 4 point with a sternum strap. (in fancy silver, to better match my light interior) I would have liked to just add a sternum strap, but Simspon only does the sternum thing installed in new belts. I can see why, they are sewn in to the webbing, not just wrapped around. I left my street belts in as often passengers on the street find it easier to buckle in that way than playing the "fighter pilot pre-flight briefing" game.

You should be sitting on the sub belts, maybe this diagram will help.
I really don't like the way harnesses look with stock seats, they should be close in on your shoulders, next to your neck. I'd seriously look for some track seats if you want to run those belts.

Don't run those harnesses without having either head rest holes in the stock seat, or an aftermarket seat with headrest holes. Don't underestimate the forces involved when you hit something. Those shoulder belts *will* come off your shoulders.

Nobody is mentioning the use of a proper sternum strap. There is no way the belts could slip off of your shoulders if they are firmly and properly attached to each other at your sternum. Choke you and collapse your windpipe in a wreck, maybe, but not slip off the shoulders!
