What exactly is it rubbing on? Can you verify the part # for the rolller.. 944.105.631.04?

Can you do a farther away picture showing the general area with where you are working? I spent a good 8 hours total staring at the front end taken apart having needed to do the belts essentially three times due to stupid errors i made. Granted my engine is a bit different with the spring tensioner, but maybe we can catch something wrong.

Is it just rubbing on the rear belt cover? The stud that the roller mounts to just has the jamb nut and the roller goes directly on that without any spacers. You may want to put a straight edge between the cam and crank gears and see what you have.

The rear belt covers on many cars have been "field modified" to accommodate the updated water pump, so maybe it was not clearanced sufficiently?

Are you turning the tension adjustment counter clockwise? If you turn it
clockwise it will rub on the cover.

Default I'm a total moron

It turns out I am missing the "Shouldered nut" P/N: 944.102.243.00 seen in the picture below from PET..

I wonder if the dealership will have it?

1986 951;

I've got a few pics of the area plus the engine is on a stand in my garage now, belts/pulleys off, so if you need other pics.
