The 944/968 is actually pretty efficient. I pay $40 to fill the tank at $3.29/gallon in Nor Cal. When I drove it everyday, I could actually go for 3 weeks without a fillup for daily commute and 1 trip / week going to the North/ South/ East Bay. For the SUV drivers, I say "Sucka! Lube up and bend over!"

A newish SUV will get gas mileage as good or better than a Camaro, 928, etc, etc, etc

A newish, small one, yeah. A new Escalade or Denali won't.

2007 Tahoe 16-22 2WD, 16-21 4WD

2006 Escalade 13-17 and 2007 13-19 but if you are buying a 75K dollar Escalade I doubt you care.

MANY sports cars dont get gas mileage in the 20s. My neighbors Mustang GT is getting like 16 all highway and in the 12s around town. The Camaro is not all that much better. 928s dont get great gas mileage either.

The smaller SUVs (Honda, Toyota, etc) get better gas mileage than a good portion of cars on the road.

Is he driving it with a heavy foot or is it modded? The last gen. of z28's got 20/25 or something like that, if I remember correctly.

928's don't get great gas mileage because they're old, big sports/GT cars with V8 motors. No surprises there.

Nope, they get nowhere near 20-25. My 383 Camaro was lucky to see 10 Before it was modified it was getting about 18 mixed.

Even if they are getting 22 on the highway they are pretty much spot on with those big scary SUVs.

I suppose. Then again I've never said sports cars aren't wasteful, impracticle vehicles and that we should all be driving Civic Hybrids.

Course, with the overcharge for hybrids compared to their counterparts it would take something like 5 years at 15K miles a year to even break even!

I am going to look at in Integra tonight, the Stealth is leaking oil something fierce.

Yeah, those hybrids aren't cheap. But you can feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that you're saving the world.

What's your turnover rate on cars, 6 months?

The 88 CRX I had got somewhere around 40ish if I remember correctly. And no Hybrid premium.
