Sounds good! The TPC course is Arnie Palmers golf course where they hold a Senior Open event every year. And the average Joe cannot play on that course so it's not advertised. You don't see too many Neon's parked around the homes in that area . There are some nice rides getting driven around there

I'm not trying to jinx you but when/if was the water pump replaced on the car? I would endeavor to take the tools needed for a water pump change (and a pump). Aside from the belt tension tool, you would need a flywheel lock, a sprocket spanner (to hold the balance shaft sprockets while removing the retaining nut) and a tension adjuster wrench. It would not be a fun job on the side of the road but it would be quite expensive if you had to have it towed to a (hopefully) good shop that can do the work.

Ok, I've made 3/4 of that trip countless times. (g/f in avatar lives in wisconsin) I-80/90 in ohio is fine, you can speed just watch it after 5 over. I-80/90 in Indiana is fine as well, speed limit is 70mph but you will find the majority of the cars doing 80+mph. I did get pulled over in Indiana for going 85-86mph, but was let off with a warning. Stick the the normal rest areas, they are well lit.

In Indiana, I would suggest filling up before Gary. This way you will not need to make a pit stop till near/after madison. Chicago is cake, just stay in the express lanes heading towards I-90/Madison. (IIRC) Depending on the time of day, the traffic is not horrable unless there is an accident, thats when you get stuck.

Wisconsin, watch your speed! Especially around the madison area. Madison is a very nice town, i've stopped there countless times. (A few years back, a few friends and I where stopped around madison. We were in seprate vehicles following each other. Cop stopped us because we where "suspicious", supposidly they where having problems with drug runners.)

Other than that , the Ohio-> Madison, WI leg should cause you no problems. (other than the bumpy roads near chicago) If you need a place to stay or anything, i'm litteraly right off the pike in NW Ohio. It'll be the last toll exit in ohio. exit 13 IIRC.

Good luck!

Wes, good to see you are back!

Thanks for the advice everyone. Flight leaves tomorrow at 5:30 AM, and trip back begins tomorrow afternoon.

A special thank you to those of you willing to lend a helping hand in case of emergency. I appreciate your offers and hope I will not have to call you (nothing against you ).

I made the exact trip in reverse in my first 84 944. I left Minneapolis on Christmas Eve morning and made it to northern Virginia about 30 hours later. It ws a fun trip, but the eight hours from Minneapolis to Chicago were brutal - snowstorm had the roads looking pretty bad. Luckily, the 944 with all weather tires is a great winter car. Have fun on the trip, the 944 also makes a great road trip car.

I told him to call me if he has ANY problems at all, and he hasnt called so far, so I hope thats a good thing.

He said it needed a tie rod and rotor on passenger side... is it pulling ot that side? he put them on I thought, but maybe the alignment got messed up because of the tie rod, or the calipers sticky?

It's always fun driving a 1k fixer uper home long distance!

I just replaced my tires, cause they were old, my car used to pull really bad now there's no pull at all. BTW the pull happened suddenly after a long drive. In other words it may be the tires. Try swapping them, if it's the tires it'll give your other shoulder a work out instead.

Didn't he have the whole spindle off, or did he finally get the hub off the original spindle? Next person who happens to talk to James should have him check the front tires every fuel stop. If it's pulling bad enough that your arm hurts then it is probably wearing the tires too.
