It didn't ever seem like a big deal to me seeing as the car never got hit in the side, but on both driver and passenger sides, in the middle of the floor theres a slight protrusion along the center of the driver and passenger seats on the floor. It runs from as far foward on the floor to the rear seats and behind, no more than 1/4" in height. The protrusions are perfectly symmetrical on both sides, and the car doesn't have any steering or handling issues. Is this some telltale sign of frame damage and that the thousands of dollars I've been putting in my car might have all been wasted? Please tell me otherwise!

i assume you have taken the carpets and sound deadening out to check right?
there are factory "designs" in the floor panels of both seats that are perfectly syymetrical and raised about a 1/4"

Not yet! I'll do it first thing in the morning. I looked at pictures of a turbo frame and didn't see this raised section, I'm anxious in a really bad way right now. The car cost me enough and I'll be damned if the parts put into it alone in the last 4 months haven't totalled to $6000. Bruce's supposedly checked for frame damage!!!

The floor pan has various stamped ribs in it and also a subframe that is spot welded in place for the seat mounting rails. I highly doubt that you have that type of frame damage, sounds like you are feeling the main ridges through the center of the floor pan. I wouldnt even pull up the carpet.

mine has this too, but my carpet is in bad shape. i assumed that it was the sound deadener, basically dead. and no padding left to cover what i thought was a design in the floor. i lift my car by the "subframes", and i have no bending in them......maybe im not damaging them cosmetically, but pushing them up through the floor(?) hope you find what is wrong.

I can actually see it and feel it with my feet, of course 1/4" is noticable, but I'm one to assume the worst. It doesn't look or feel like a 'ridge' that I've seen in pictures of fully stripped and painted 944 frames. 5-6" wide along the length of the car.

The two ridges (one on each side of the car) are about 3" wide, stick up about 1/4", and go from the front of the footwell to the seat frame.

Say, if your carpet is black, I would be interested in buying it, after you rip it all out....

Probably. You can feel it, for sure - especially if the sound deadening/carpet pad is starting to crush with age.

The picture doesnt show the ridge very well. It just starts on the left side of the pic about 1/3rd down from the top, inbetween the two holes on the seat frame.

My 951 has that same ridge, it's normal (or so I hope, or else we're both in the same boat!)

Here's a pic of the bottom of the floor pan. You can see all the various ribbing and contours of the pan. If you push hard enough, you will be able to feel these ridges through the carpeting and sound deadening.

If you have any real accident damage, that caused bending in the floor pan, you will be able to see it from below. So just jack the car up and look underneath. As long as you dont have a Turbo or S2 with the plastic panels, you should be able to see the entire floor pan without having to remove anything.
