Default A Taste of Snow

I wish I had a better camera on me for this snapshot! Thought I would share:

And while I have your attention...

(Hypothetical situation) If I bore out the cylinders of my 2.5 n/a to 3.0, can I install S2 pistons and what other modifications would be required?

Didn't think about that. I assumed that all the blocks (2.5, 2.7, 3.0) were the same and that they were bored out to different degrees.

Diminishing returns? The work required to bore out a 2.5l, recoat, install pistons, etc... would cost you more than buying a stonger 3.0l motor from an S2.

That may definitely be the easier route.

The 3.0L cylinders are much larger. Take a look at pictures of the 2.5L and the 3.0L blocks, and you will see. The 3.0L cylinders are so big that they are siamesed at the bottoms.

My 944 has more snow on it than yours does

Hmmm... Guess I'll have to go back to my original plan and turbo charge it.

Just kidding!

Looks like the best bet is to swap the crank and connecting rods to get 2.8liters.

Yup, can go to a 2.8L stroker, but I don't know of anybody who makes special N/A pistons for the purpose, so you would have to go with the Carillo rods. With the turbo, there is a set of pistons you can buy if you really want to use your stock rods.
Then of course you would need to re-map the ECU, and you might start to max out the AFM, so it could require going to a MAF.

If I was worried about diminishing returns, I wouldn't have bought a Porsche!

It’s a labor of love. You should know that!

Having said that, I do have my eyes on an S2. *fingers crossed*
