Default 3.0 stroker?

Ok i have heard about taking a S2 or a 968 block and having your SOHC head drilled out for the water passages so it fits. I would like to know more about this, like what can be used over on the new block from the original car? I am very interested in knowing how much this would cost to do on my 84 because i was thinking about building it up for boost from a supercharger, and i figure might as well build up something bigger.

The head from a 8v 2.7 will bolt right up to a 3.0 short block, I'm not familiar with a way to make a 2.5 head fit since there's a difference in bore size (The 3.0 has both a longer stroke and a bigger bore than a 2.5), I don't think any 2.5 parts would be useful except maybe the distributer cap. If you want to add boost, you will need pistons with a suitable compression ratio. Another option you might be thinking of is a 2.8 stroker in which the crank from a 3.0 is used in a 2.5 block.

though the crank will add more stroke right? so do i have to change cams so the valves dont "kiss" the pistons?

No the piston moves down the bore more with the 3.0 crank I believe, so no need for different cams

Reasonable for a 3.0 crank is anywhere from $1500-3000, they're kinda rare and in demand. The pistons go further in both dirrections, up AND down, up is a problem. IIRC there are other pistons available with the pin relocated higher to keep the head from making contact.

You'd want/need to go with Mahle pistons if you did this, which actually as of recently went out of production, so expect to pay a premium for these as well...
