In an awkward predicament... and i'm a paid rennlister
Well, am i a bad porsche owner for not wanting to drive my car as much? I love my car, but i want to keep her more of a "Garage Queen." I still have my 83 n/a sitting in front of my house with green interiour. Someone in my neighborhood has an 84 n/a for sale. The body is straight as a whip (unlike the one in my front yard, it was attacked by a pole according to the previous owner... right. It was fixed, but not good enough.) Anywho, this car's sporting this awesome, "RARE COLOUR" : Primer. It needs lots of tlc, and I was wondering if it would be worth it to part my "mold infested, amphibious" 83, which so happens to be an auto, for the restoration of this straight 84?... would i be wasting my time? I also need something to run around in ... dont want to put to many miles on my pristine baby
Oh, i'm a paid Rennlister now ... and it's 4 in the morning.. work's going to be hell.

Get rid of the amphibiPorsche and buy the '84. There's nothing wrong with wanting to preserve a nice 944, I do the same thing. My '83 only come sout when its nice and I try to keep the miles off of it.

"Ok, Katrina fugged up my cars.
Ok, I have both a 89 944 s2 and a 83 944. Both were flooded up to the roof during hurrican katrina. I'm very upset at my loss. Both were stowed in my garage which is connected to my house. Now, I had..."
Thought that was you. Get the new car, and part the '83. With a salvage title the only thing it is going to be good for is a track car and as an '83 it is a bit more valuable as one of the lightest 944's. Keep as many parts that you believe are salvagable form the '83 if you decide to part it and fix any of the little things on the '84 and let the '83 go.
For those that might be interested in a project like your '83 you should post up pics.

Keep the 83 as a parts car and buy the 84. The 83 will be worth multiple times the value in parts you will use in the future than what you will get if you sell it. Local junkyards will only pay $75 for a thrashed 944 (I was told by the guy who thought he was lucky to sell me the parts car for $200 - the car runs and drives).

Agreed.
It seems that there is little return for maintaining a pristine 944. The small amount of value retained by parking it cannot offset the lost pleasure from not driving it. Buy a perfect 951 for $12k today and you still sell it a loss 5 years from now.

I just want to restore a 944 as a daily driver/track car.
