Question Trivia question for 944 gurus

So, I have been puttsing around in my parts car; seeing how the car is put together. I found some bolts that dont seem to serve any purpose at all, that are definetly factory original equipment. I have searched the archives and dont see them in other 944 cars pictures either. Since I dont have my camera with me I pulled a picture from one of the posts I found and drew in the bolts I am talking about.

From the underside of the car I see something resembling a cable clamp with the bolts holding it in, all buried underneath the undercoating. The threads of these bolts stick out about an inch into the car interior; and were underneath the rear seat armrest and covered with rubber caps. I really cant figure out why they are there at all... and that bugs me.

Hmmm...

I don't recall ever seeing those on any car I've had down. My guess is they are for a split rear seat pivot bracket, but they never had that... I don't think. I wonder if 968s have them?

What I love about this list is that (so far) 102 people were interested enough to take a look at Pat's question and within less than 12 hours he had an answer...about something that makes no difference at all to him, just curiosity. Come to think of it, maybe it's curiosity that makes this group tick.

Pat: I still owe you a ride in my 951. I finally put the steering rack in that we pulled out of your parts car, it works great, thanks again. I've been hotrodding the car, K27/6, MAF, catbypass, Koni's. It's, umm, 'quick' now

there are also some odd looking bolts poking out on the flat luggage are of the later cars. I have no idea what they are for.

damn...split rear seats beat me to it. Ive seen those in a few 944's, i believe they were an option and standard on the 968's. I saw some in an 88 black 944 w/ a light tan interior, very sweet.

haha, thats not my car. The parts car was owned by a toolbox. The rear speakers are 6x9 forced in there with a hammer and tin snips. The fronts were 6.5 rounds installed in a similiar fashion; along with tweeters cut into the cardboard. The spare tire well had particle board screwed/glued in with holes for two 10" subs. What a mess it was. The condition of the interior combined with the boat anchor under the hood turned it into a parts car. The cost to get it back on the road in acceptable condition would have been atleast $3k and lots and lots of labor.

Hey, even my car has those threaded bits. Did the 924S have available split seats?

Don't worry the speaker were removed shortly after taking the picture.
