some of the emblems are just pushed into two rubber gromets, on others you have to take the header panel off and it is attached with two nuts on the back of the shield. We would have to know which model car you are talking about.

oooh. i misread that. I thought you meant the hood crest for some reason.
Take a hair dryer or heatgun and heat up the emblem to melt the adhesive on the back.

If you heat it with a heat gun (be careful on the surrounding paint) and while you are heating it take a piece of dental floss and use if like a cheese cutter and it will remove the emblem without harming the paint. The Dental floss will go through the adhesive back on the 944 emblem like butter. helps to have a helper when you do it this way.

WD-40 safe on the paint? It took me awhile with the warm soapy water, but it ensures you don't strip any paint off. Theres also an 'adhesive remover' made by 3M to remove whatevers left on the car once the emblem is gone, but at $10 a bottle you might be better off to hit it with a sponge and water. (I've also heard rubbing alcohol works, who wants to try?
)
