Default Clutch progress update

All parts ordered, from a Rennlist sponsor I might add.

Started prepping parts for re-assembly.

Here is the bellhousing/release arm.

Tranny, good enough to put back in.

Parts should be here the week after Christmas.

Still need to pull the flywheel and get it ground.

12mm 12 point the right size?

Thanks everyone!

yea, pretty sure its 12 mm (for flywheel bolts i assume) and what did you do to your clutch housing, did you take it somewhere to get cleaned, or did you clean it up and paint it, looks nice

I'm doing a clutch now also. Correct, 12mm 12pt. for the flywheel bolts and 8mm 12 pt. for the clutch pressure plate bolts.

I used the blast cabinent at work on the parts.

Used the shops super hot water pressure washer on the tranny

Flywheel bolts, OMG, any tricks?

They are tight, brought home a electic 150 ft/lb impact gun and they laughed at it.

Do I need to make a flywheel holder?

So close, yet, so far!

my engine was on the ground, and i put a 1/2" ratchet with a 24mm socket on the crank bolt, and then when i reefed on the flywheel bolts, the ratchet on the crank locked itself against the floor and held everything to get the bolts off just fine. none stripped either. i still think someone has been in there... maybe my clutch was replaced 10 years ago with another rubber center one.. i dunno

I think there's a fairly inexpensive flywheel tool you can pick up at most parts houses. I levered mine using a big ol breaker bar and a pry bar to hold the flywheel from spinning. It wasn't optimium. I will add that I would think twice about grinding the flywheel. If the surface is not scored, leave it. I did mine, and even with a sport spring centered clutch disk and a new spring disk, I can feel a little slippage at max rpm. If I had it to do over I'd buy a new flywheel rather than grinding.

I used a little heat from a small propane torch and a electric impact like yours and they came off, without the heat I had no luck.

Well, I think I will make a little bracket that bolts from the engine to the flywheel.

And use a torch to heat it up.

Oh, no cratches, just been a little hot over it's life and I want to have that glaze knocked off. Financially, my best options. $25.00 vs. $400.00?

I used a breaker bar on the crank, it braced against the floor and I had no problems gettting the flywheel bolts off manually with another breaker. I also had mine re-surfaced, it wasn't bad but I didn't see a reason not to. Being an n/a I don't have slippage.
