He's getting ripped off! By Chevy standards, that is. For a 350 Chevy you can get the 8 pistons, all bearings, oil pump and gaskets for $214. Yes, $214!. Oops, no timing chain. Gotta complain about that.

Link probably won't work but if you wanna wallow in anger, go to www.summit.com and search a bit.

Now as to Stigs issues, I can never understand his posts as no reading gets done. Knock off the hottie avatars if you want feedback. Sheesh!

STIG - I have four holes of 944 piston rings for you. I will not be using these rings for my 928. They are yours for a small amount of money if you wanted them. PM me if you wanted them.

What is wrong with phosphate and silicate free green coolant? What you are seeing is normal, calcified surface. Porsche has been recommending phosphate free coolant since it was practically invented. I have heard less good things about 'non-green' coolants than green coolant, such as premature breakdown and loss of cooling efficiency.

Thanks Karl for your offer and assistance. I'm actually looking at the oil cooler pressure relief valve update. However, this thing is EXPENSIVE $280+ for a bolt with a hole is not my idea of a good investment. so does anyone have one of these used in not-so-new condition???

UPDATE

The engine block was checked this afternoon at the machine shop. It ONLY needs to be honed! Cylinders are still in spec....AKA WOHOO!!!

They are going to get my oil cooler cover, pistons, rods, block, main bearings girdle and flywheel all cleaned up!

green is what was in mine before (now its in a pan and on the concrete floor soaking up with floor dry) seemed to do just fine

The Porsche dealer still uses green in 944s...riddle me that??? The dealer must want our cars to explode then if green is bad...oh and Boxster coolant, the extra-safe coolant is green...that bad too?

I have never used anything other than green coolant and never had any problems. I guess wizkid918 is a special case. His car is allergic to ethylene glycol.

If someone knows how to test OPRV's, I have 3 of them. Not sure if they are good or not.

Just run distilled water and water wetter. Guaranteed phosphate free!

Works great for me.
