Default Semi-OT: Who here has 1:16 to 1:18 scale RC cars?

This is kinda OT, but it DOES have 944-related content. Anyway, I was digging around in my room today and came across an old dead 951 RC car I nabbed off eBay a while back. After doing some measuring, I've determined it to be about 1:16 to 1:18 scale. To get to the point, I'm thinking of making a mold of it and making of few copies of the body. Anyone think they'd be interested? I know that it's kind of a weird scale, but I figured I'd toss the idea out there.

Pearldrum,
The body is around 9 in, or 230mm long.

I was trying to mill out some molds for a couple of different scales at my last school, but I moved before we finished setting the CNC mill up... *sigh* Not sure if i have the CAD file laying around anymore, either. It's too bad, since I recently finished building a simple vacuum-forming rig.

Is it a hobby grade vehicle, or just a walmart toy? I'm guessing it's walmart toy, as I'm pretty big into R/C cars, and have never seen a 944 of any kind. It would be cool if you were able to make a 1/10. You would have to figure out all of the dimensions of the 1/16, and then go from there to 1/10, and make one of clay probably, and fire it so it's hard, then molds could be made. I'd be down for one if you made a 1/10. It would look SICK on my Nitro Touring Car. Then again, a company did just come out with a 1/18 scale Nitro touring car, I bet this body would drop right on!!!

Throw up spme pics man!!!

Yeah, it's just a cheap toy; it's one of the ones that turns when you back up. I haven't worked with clay too much, but maybe I'll give it a shot sometime. I remember there was a lot of interest in a thread like this a while back, and it was probably for 1:10 scale or similar. As for pics, I'll have them up in a bit; just need to snap them and toss 'em up on my server.

First, here's a 3 page thread on 200mm wide RC body brainstorming:

I still have the stripped down plastic hard-body from this baby:

(See this thread)

I've been meaning to find the right mini-RC chassis for it.

Dan,
How long is that body? If it's around 6", it could possibly fit the RadioShack XMod cars or the Kyosho Mini Z.

As for pictures of my 951 body, here are a couple quickes I shot.

I posted the dimensions in that other thread:

overall length: 17.5 cm (7 in)
wheelbase (front center to rear center): 10 cm (4 in)
overall width: 8 cm (3.25 in)
overall height: 5 cm (2 in)

Also, looks like the on-road version of the Kyosho Mini-Z might be a perfect match...

Ah. I found varying dimensions when I searched for Mini-Z lengths; some looked they would work, and some didn't. *shrug* The best thing I think you could do is take the body with you to your local hobby store and see if they have any Mini-Zs you can test-fit it on.

Well...if anyone is into R/C, and your up to par on info, you'll know about the Xray NT18 or the N18 Touring car.

It's the smallest nitro car made. 1/18 scale, be out in december sometime, before x-mas!

www.teamxray.com is the site. You can find the videos and stuff. Things you would need to do to the body would be exhaust cut out, engine head cut out and air filter cut out, and hole in windshield for air movement. It would look awesome tho.

If not this, their 1/18 electric car would work, or a X-mods or Mini-z extended.
