Default Local VA/MD/DC and PA 944/951 Owner GTG Scheduled for Nov 5th in Alex VA.

Decided to start a new thread to keep things straight.

I updated the list and it is now up to 50 people. I know that it is not reasonable to hope for all 50 as some are at college and others are just too far away to make it that early given driving distances. I will post this on other forums as well if you guys want to or you can. Some owners are w/out cars at the moment. Sorry guys If you can make it with another car it would be great to catch up in person.

Back on the other thread I suggested Southside 815 in Alexandria they have good food and it is reasonably priced and family friendly, click on their name for the restaurant information. I know that they have seating for us but if we get too big we will need to make plans in advance. The more we know in advance the better. There is a customer parking lot in the back that could easily hold our cars. It is 4 blocks off of 495 at the Wilson Bridge and Route 1. Right down George Washington Parkway there are 2 parks. Dyke Marsh and Fort Hunt being the larger of the two. Fort Hunt also has several lots for parking so once again that wouldn't be an issue for us to take pics. For those of you that want drives well I am sure that we can work that out.

Some of us have decided on Nov 5th at 9am, Looking at Accuweather's 15 day forcast for that weekend it looks to be dry. Again this is 2 weeks from now so who knows. I do not know what kind of social obligations some of you may have, kids, sports or whatever that make it more difficult to attend something like this. It would be great to get a bunch of cars/owners together though. I was hoping to be at a photo location by 11:30 or 12:00 so that those who need to can get a move on.

The new list of cars can be found here. If you don't want to be on the list PLEASE let me know. All of this is searchable but I have kinda made it easier for us. Those of you that I do not have complete info on well, I will be looking Where are all of the 968's? They are included as well.

Map is up!

FYI...
Potomac has a Shenandoah Circuit DE on Nov. 5-6. I'll be at the track so unfortunately I won't be able to make it to this GTG. Hope everything turns out well....and post lots of pics! Hope I can make it to the next one!

Dang'it! Audi Club has a lift session at The Auto Shop in Sterling, VA on the 5th. I'm already signed up to do some work on the 944. If anyone wants to help I can get even more done (hint hint!) I believe 9444Alexis will be at the lift session as well.

You don't have to be a member to come hang out! Starts at 9am and goes till about 2pm.

Michael, I am in; however, let me make sure I understand. We are meeting 11-5 at 9AM at FT Hunt Park? Let me know if I am wrong.

JSAinDC,

The park is far to big, with the # of lots that they have we might not ever find one another. I figured Southside so that we could get organized, breakfast or cup of coffee whatever then head to the park by 11:30 or 12. I know that it is a bit of a delay but it will give some of those that are traveling longer distances time to get here. I have about a 45min drive and others have as much as 3 or 4 hours.

After the pic, you are welcome to do whatever. Go for a drive or just hang out. That too could be put together at the restaurant or the park.

I'm almost postive you can count me in! Hopefully the weather will be nice. Forecasts are not really accurate beyond 4 days if that. Too many variables come into play.

Sounds like a great plan! I'll have to miss it however since I'll be out of town until late Saturday afternoon.

Hey Guys: I'm new to the NoVa region--would love to join. Will have to check my schedule (never can tell what will pop up in a week).

In the meantime, any plans for a wrenching day as well?

Cheers,
A

Great to see that we will have a few owners and cars there. I will see what I can do. Been pretty busy the past few days. For those of you whe don't follow off-topic..

Finally got a free minute so I am taking the oppertunity to introduce a new Rennlist follower.

Follow-up on http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforu...ad.php?t=211640

My wife Lisa began labor late in the morning on the 27th. By 12:30 PM we had her to the hospital where she was having contractions about every 5-6min. That happened REALLY fast. Great 0-60 start.

Labor was intense and Lisa needed a little help so an epidural was administered about 4pm. That seemed to slow things down. Unfortunately the breaks had been applied. By 10pm we were at a standstill and there was a fork in the road. Abuse mom down the rough long road risking complications and lack of gas or taking the short "cut" to the finish line.

Well we chose the short cut and reached the end of that race at 12:45 obviously taking home the prize.. Our trophy was bouncing baby boy!

Needless to say that I am so happy that the two of them are doing GREAT. John's anticipated due date was Nov 21st but boy are we glad to see that he is here. Givin' he had another month left I think that he might have ended up a bit to big to compete in his catagory had he kept up his pace.

Did I mention that he was early?

Will post some cleaned up pictures soon. He was a little rough around the edges in those first pic's.

Michael

I've got an alignment to be done on the 5th at 9AM, provided I could get a transmission in my car (after the accident) the S2 is still going to be ugly.

Just found out that the cooking class will be at 1:30 in Ashburn so I can't make it. I may have a wrenching party as I'm rebuilding an 83 motor for the 944 Cup next year (just got it on the engine stand without a hoist).

Come on, there's gotta be more then 7 or 8 owners coming this Sat. We really need to get connected so we can start having events like this more often. Even if you can't bring your car at least come. Check out each other's rides, get ideas for our own cars, in any case meeting fellow enthusiest just makes eveything so much more fun.

From now on, when you see a 944 out driving, follow him and let him know about the forum and the GTG. That's what I'll be doing until then!
