Default What the weirdest thing that you've found in your motor's oil pan?

It's Friday. The end of the week. Time for an off the wall question.

What the weirdest thing that you've found in your motor's oil pan? How big was it? And was it magnetic (the pan magnet got it)?

Just wondering. . . .

WOW! That looks like the remaining guts after a serious engine excursion.

I was thinking more along the lines of little bits and pieces.

This is story not much what was IN the pan...

Needless to say there was some stuff in the pan that did not belong there too.

However I was most surprized when I pulled the plan from nicely working race motor and found that the oil drain back tube had broken off and got hit by the crank and lodged itself in to the black plastic baffle and busted my welded in "trap door" baffle.

Motor had been runing fine and I took the pan off for routine maintence when I found the carnage.

Hehe, here's the rod/piston and all that remains of the rod bearing I removed from my turbo dodge engine last weekend...

I took the lower half of the rod out through the hole it made in the side of the block. Didn't even have to remove the oil pan, the rod convienently made a hole big enough to work through.

When I had my engine apart, I caught my friend's cat sleeping in the oil pan. I have a picture of it in my camera, and I will try to post it up when I get home.

For a minute there you had me

until I read the word sleeping, and then knew that it couldn't be a catalytic converter.

An angle grinder...

But the pan was off, I was "adjusting" the trap door
