Hell, I'd probably have asked him "Are you always this rude, or does it take a lot of practice?" or something along those lines. Or perhaps "Wow, you must think owning a poor man's Porsche gives you a license to be an ***." I normally wouldn't say anything about "poor man's Porsche" but it would probably eitehr deflate or **** off this *****.

yeah every thursday nite, newport on the levee area down by Don Pablos/joes crabshack etc. Its a good time really, just one bad seed. I would have gone off on him but he seemed to have quite a few buddies that he was dissin my car to, so i really didnt want my car keyed or something stupid to go down. I just moved it down a few cars by andys car and left it at that. I say we get about ten people to all go over and lean on HIS car. I would but i dont want red oxide on my jeans.

Hey now, think of his poor car. If he treats other cars poorly, he probably doesn't take the greatest care of his own.

And think of the kittens, too.

Had my first encounter with a fellow 944 owner and rennlist started off like that I would have been completely disenfranchised. The 944 community, and most of the online Porsche community has been nothing short of stellar to me. We support each other and loan each tools and support and drive over to each other's houses to wrench yet some douchebag who thinks he's one up on you has to play "big man" for his common-stock pig girlfriend at your expense...

Dammit all to hell, do I need to fly up there and whip this guy's *** for you? The more I read this thread the more f'ng enraged I get. That ***** probably can't change his own oil and calls everyone asking what the hell a LEO cap is...

Screw him. What goes around comes around - as far as I am concerned, he's blackballed and if we find out who he is online - we'll reciprocate.

I've met all sorts of 'car enthusiasts'. From people who think they drive the fastest/bestest thing on earth when they drive a BMW 330i, to people who own multiple $100k cars and are still interested in my beater 944 and even my old diesel benz.

I've got those "whatever, 944" look from 964 and 930 owners (mostly..). The 993 owners tend to not care but at least when I talk to them they don't say something along the lines of "911's the best porsche".

I have also got thumbs up from a 996 turbo S driver, a 987 Boxster S driver, and even a CL55 AMG driver. So, there's all sorts of people I guess.

it's not worth it next time, I'd bring a big buddy as well hehe

Dude, your 89 is beautiful! It's one of my favorite cars on this board...don't let some jerk get you down. Everything comes around in life. He'll get treated like **** some day when he really needs a hand.

Most of the people I've met through PCA and other Porsche gtg's have been really nice. The thing I love is that you'll see a guy with a 993 Turbo complimenting a guy with a 912, or a person with a 996 GT3 complimenting the nice condition of an old 924 or 914. It's a community of enthusiasts, and a lot of true enthusiasts are previous or past 944 owners. Almost all of them (including a guy I met with a Carerra GT) appreciate any nice Porsche, no matter how humble.

In fact, that Carerra GT guy told me "when I see a nice 944 like yours, I really wish I hadn't gotten rid of mine...it's still one of my favorite cars I've owned." How is that for a compliment?

I am really surprised to hear this. Usually the 944 guys are a hell of a friendly bunch. I had a 911 guy do the same kind of thing to me when I was in the 951. He was driving a brown SC targa that was a pretty well used example. It looked like it had been daily driven for it's entire life. All of the rubber seals looks cracked to hell, the carpet was pretty faded and worn, the seats were torn, dash was cracked, etc. It was a pretty rough car. He came over with his buddy and started walking around my car and telling him what a piece of crap it was. I was standing right there next to it, but he kept going on as if I wasn't there. He mentioned that it was made to give poor people the chance to own a Porsche 20 years ago, blah blah blah.

I just smiled and walked away. (knowing that my car has double the RWHP of his AND that I have a concours-winning 911 sitting in the garage. )
