Well, the only reason I was thinking about the new gas tank for you is if you want to cut that cross member out. These guys http://www.diateam.no/porsche/ (who's car ROCKS) did it without cutting the cross member, but it doesent look incredably stable. They said that most their support comes from the torque tube itself, which should be enough.
Whatever works, I guess

I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel
The 951 tranny was a direct bolt in (see photo below). I put in about 5 hours tonight and things are coming together nicely. This weekend I will work on the wiring, fuel return line, and one or two water lines and that should be it. I'm hoping to have it running this weekend, of course it will be really loud without the exhaust

did you figuure out the senser?I had trouble with mine I used the 968 casing but I had to use the guts out of the S .If you use the wrong length it will smash into the senser on the flywheels. Oh yea,Chris I think your exact words were. If I owned this car I would p_ss myself !!!!

I have the entire wiring diagram book for the 1987 924S. I assume that it is the same for the 88?
The only issue here is that I, and it, are not in the same place at the moment. The earliest I can scan and send it to you will be Monday.

Thanks Tifo, if anyone has one that they can send me before Monday, I would appreciate it.
Marty - I am using the 924S sensor (same part number as the 968) and just left if mounted to the 924S bellhousing. It aligns nicely with the flywheel and should work (I hope).

did you happen to run a search on Todd Holyoak .He had all they wiring for 968 into 944s. I had a confusion on a couple small things ,He emailed me back promptly very, very helpful. He also sent copies of tech manual. All the wiring chart are in the archives at rennlist.I would bet the wiring for 944 n/a and 924S would be close or the same.

First wiring snag. The 14 pin connector from the 968 DME (at the brake booster), is supposed to connect to another 14 pin connector from the car. However, there is not a 14 pin connector on the car at that point but there is a 9 point connector.
Tifo, I please send the 924S wiring diagram tomorrow
We did attempt to wire the beast up this afternoon. The car will turn over, but there is no spark.

Check to see if the DME is powered.
Power comes off the modular plug right above the booster on the top edge of the outer firewall seal... I think. At least it does on a Turbo. On a Turbo, the wire is black with a yellow stripe and about 12ga.
Oh Hell... could be lots of things. Reference sensors too. No signal means no sparky. Maybe I'll check the FSM for you?
EDIT - check page 247 of the FSM for DME power testing.

It is a 7-page format. Page 6 looks to be what you need (Engine/Tempostat). It does show a 9-pin connector before the control unit.

Thanks Tifo, my yahoo (ec200rider@yahoo.com) has most of 1 gig left, that will work.
We have the fuel pump running and power to the injectors and coil but we cannot get a spark.
