yea, i'm wondering if you need to check your camshaft timing. it might be off a bit if the top end screams but the bottom end feels sluggish.

My S2 feels sluggish under 2.2k...and the cam belt is right on the money. Cam timing has never been messed with..

Track beast, no doubt. IIRC, your not going to try and make it road legal(I read the first lot of pages, but I'm working with dial-up hell here, so forgive me if I'm wrong) The intake under the headlight is cool, are you getting one of these covers with the NACA ducts? Not exactly subtle, as the sleeper advantage is lost for the guy who sees you in his mirror

Does all this make sense? I think not. I think, therefore I am

I did have the glass out, mainly because I put a breaker bar through it by mistake I didn't think about the flush mount and am not sure that is involved.

You are correct, this is a track car although I still have a plate and insurance. Other than the lack of a cat, I believe that it is still legal to drive it in AL as long as I'm not out after dark or in the rain (no headlights). I also have to remember to signal with my arm since I have no turn signals.

Yes, I will be going with some form of NACA duct, just not sure where it's going, I may put it on the front quarter panel instead of the headlight or front bumper.

The filter that I have in their came off of my 2002 Exploder, the KN came in yesterday and is significantly bigger. It just barely fits in the same spot. I'll get that mounted this afternoon prior to the dyno runs.

When I first got it running it was not running well at all. I thought that the timing might be off so I checked and it appears to be dead on. Instead, I had installed switched two plug leads Hard to beleive that it would start and run on only two cylinders, albeit big cyclinders.

Just back from the dyno where I did three pulls running 93 octane

Specs - Dynojet Chassis Dynomometer
Temp - 90
Humidity - 55%

Run RWHP Torque
1 202.0 197.6
2 203.4 199.9
3 203.1 200.4

I'm very happy with the numbers Hell, I can't believe the car is actually running There is one problem at around 2000 rpms where the car goes way rich (A/F 9-10). I'm wondering if that is the TPS? Below 4K rpm the A/F is right around 14 and drops to 13 at 6.5K. A little lean maybe?

The owner emailed me the files and I need to download a program to view them. I'll try to get some graphs posted. The torque curve on this baby is unbelievably flat, looks like an F250 diesel

A/F of 9-10 is rich, not lean.

That is dangerously rich, I would watch that before driving it much. You will end up washing your cylinders down if you are not careful. BTW, I would love to see the final product, exhaust and all that.

WOW is the first thing that comes to mind. I spent the day at Little Taledega for a one day DE with the AL SCCA. The track is 1.35 miles with lots of tight and odd turns. The addition of the engine is better than I thought it would be. Lot's of low end grunt to come out of corners. In fact, I experienced throttle oversteer coming out of turns on numerous occasions The car ran like a champ, no problems at all. I am about to download my videos and will try to post them tomorrow.

Ok, here's a few laps at Little Talledega running in the advanced group. It's a strange little track with lots of odd corners, very hard on tires and brakes. As you will notice, it's a 3rd gear track with my current setup, I don't shift at all. I am just at redline after the short back straight and in fact was letting off a littel early because of that. Afterall, I didn't want to blow her up on the first outing.

File size is a little over 14megs.

Tim:

Congratulations on the debut of the 924S3 lightweight! Did you get the oil temp gauge hooked up? Was that what was temporaried to the dash? How about the DME voltage source? Did one of the black wires work?

I still plan to get the "tool" by to do some comparisons. My house is getting some new skin and it takes most of my free time these days.

Looks like you kept it in 3rd all the way around the track...

...what's up with the guy putting his hand out the window to wave you on - seems like a big no-no.

Keith - I didn't hook up the oil temp gauge as I had just put new oil in. Since it is now used, I'll drain it and tap the bolt for the new gauge. That's on the schedule for this week. The temporary setup on the dash is the oil pressure sender. I need to make a gauge holder for the two oil gauges and the clock to go in that spot. I am still using the toggle for the DME, ran out of time on Saturday to try the black lead.

KJP - every DE I've ever been to uses the "point-by" system. And yes, my lap times around the track were similar whether I shifted or just left it in third.
