yeah, all of my DE's are the point-by thing...

glad to see it works! I'm jealous now.

I don't think I mentioned that I ended my DE about 15 minutes early because my brakes started squealing like a pig. I looked at the front drivers side and it appeared that had almost blown through the pad (third day on KFP golds). Well, when I got home, I went to pull the pads only to find that I had blown completely through the passenger front side (see photos below). I had been thinking that a brake upgrade was needed, so I bit the bullet and called Travis and Rennbay. These bad boys showed up today (see below), best of all, they fit under the 15" phonies

i just got the KFP golds and am anxious to try them out. i'm not surprised you overdid your brakes with such a large increase in power that they had to tame.

your car is turning out to be quite a track monster - suspension, motor, now brakes. do you have a full cage in it?

I guess I don't understand why changing the calipers would help cure the problem of "blowing through" the KFP Golds? Did you change brands of brake pads when you changed the caliper?

that's a good question. i would think with more engine power, you need larger rotors and pads to increase surface area and reduce brake overheating.

Joe, I couldn't run the KFP front and back as it was causing rear wheel lockup. In the end I was running KFP gold in front and metal masters in the rear, the set up worked fairly well. The main reason for the brake upgrade was because I rode in a friends race-prepped 924S that day. He was running 928 calipers in front and I couldn't believe the difference in stopping power. Since I don't want to go bigger on my wheels as of yet, my only choice was the Wilwoods from Travis. The calipers are also much lighter than stock saving on unsprung weight.

I had a custom roll bar installed last year (Kirk Racing) that will be built out into a cage before the end of the year. I am also trying to decide on the fire suppression system. If all goes as planned my first race will be with the PBOC in March at Barber.

Well, I got an email today asking me how the 924S? was running so I thought that I would pull up this old thread. I can't tell you how much fun this car turned out to be. If you've ever thought about doing the transplant - do it. In fact, I have most of a spare 968 engine that I'd let go for the right price.

Here's a clip from a DE at Road Atlanta a few weeks ago. Click here

Cool Video. Looks like you're hitting like around 100 MPH on the long straights over there. Is that about right?

As light as the 924 is, with the largest / strongest engine ever put into the line, it should really accellerate well! Sure looks like it on the video.

Well, I don't have a speedo, but a friend of mine with an E46M3 had us clocked at 145 (speedo indicated) just before braking going into 10a (end of long back straight). I wasn't able to hit that consistantly, since I had to have a good run out of 7 to get there.

If you want to know where where 100 mph is on the track, watch for the shift from 3 to 4th, that typically occurs between 97 and 102 based on my gear ratios and tire size.

Zounds! That seems awfully fast for a DE. Seems more like what you'd expect in an SCCA race of some sort. That is going fast!

Well done!

The instructor run group is a lot of fun with the Peachtree BMWCCA. There was a GT3 hitting 158 and a 550rwhp Mustang pegging his speedo at 160 at the end of the backstraight.

Lemming, I think you should invest in a larger rear view mirror for your car.

That's an old fashioned "wink" mirror. It actually works pretty well and is surprisingly light weight.

Another clip, this one from Little Talladega
