Default Clutch alignment tool

After 180,000 miles, my car has decided that its time for a new clutch.

Will I need a clutch alignment tool specific to the 944, or can I get by with borrowing one from the local BMW shop?
Thanks,
Tom

The ford one works, or you can get a broomstick (or really any dowel rod) and wrap it in some duct tape to make it a nice, snug fit. Worked on my car, and I believe MichelleJD used this trick too.

If you buy the clutch hardware kit from Lindsey (pretty much a must) it's included.

It comes with most Sachs 'clutch kits' as well as a pilot bearing and TO bearing.. Plan on adding the pivot shaft bearings, rear main seal, guide tube, and new flywheel/PP bolts when you order. My kit didn't come with the moly lube for the throw out bearing guide but I use Mobil 1 grease anyway.

if you have an extra torque tube laying around, you can wack the splined end off of it. That's what I borrow from a Porsche shop.

Thanks for the replies.

I got my kit off ebay, it comes with the pilot and TO bearing and the grease, but thats it.

Good call on the RMS and other bits, I almost forgot about them.

Yea Ford 03 or 04, i have a gazillion of the damn things laying around work, but not really worth the freight to ship them. Lindsey sells a nice little kit for 65 bucks that includes the tool, rear main, pilot bearing, clutch fork bearings x 2, pressure plate and flywheel bolts, and guide tube.

Tom,
Have not heard from you in a while. If you want to just borrow one, I have one. If you want to replace the throwout bearing guide tube, I have a new one you can have.
Let me know.

Albert,
I spent last spring up in Charlotte with no net access, and this summer I have been overwhelmed with school work. Hopefully things will smooth out in the upcoming months so that I can find time for gtg's and such.

I haven't decided if I am going to get the lindesy racing kit yet . . . if I decide to buy everything seperately, I'll take you up on that guide tube and the clutch alignment tool offer. I'll let you know.

I have finals next week and then have about a week and a half to finish the clutch job before I move to Augusta. Depending on how fast the job is going, I may have to throw a wrenching party to ensure that it gets done before the 15th.

Thanks,
Tom
