Default 968 Rockers - Yay or Nay? Pics...

Just curious as to what others think regarding the next possible addition:

Over time Ive been on a small mission to remove most of the black accents in favor of body color items and 3 major items remain: Door handles, mirrors, and the lower body trim.

I am going to buy 968 mirrors/handles - it will happen in a few months but its not my #1 priority. This leaves the lower body trim - I could either paint it guards with a flex additive or install what I recently purchased.
Installing these will require sanding off parts of how they mount flush onto a 968 and getting creative in a place or two. Using 3M body moulding tape and maybe a sheetmetal screw on each end for total security (With a plug of some sort in guards red to cover it)

Im basically asking for opinions - I want to know if you think it just doesnt look right (ie "cluttered") or if you think it will look good once completed. Dont judge the finished product by this as I just hung them in the general location with racers tape to get an idea of the look before sanding on them. Keep in mind there will also be 968 mirrors/handles on board. I appreciate your comments - even the purists that think my car is a rolling disaster...

Honest opinion, I don't like it as much as other 951s with 968 rockers. Seems a bit cluttered, like you said.

Although, the black 951 attached looks damn good.

I thought I was going to be a definite "yea," but I'm not so sure after seeing it. This was a mod I eventually wanted to do to my car. However, the lines don't flow as well as the 968. The rockers don't look right with the rear valence. I makes the *** end looks like it's sitting higher. It's a tough call though. That last shot (rear 3/4) looks great!

BTW Sam - I certainly do NOT think your car is a rolling disaster. I think it's one of the nicest on the list!

Thanks Sergey, but I didnt even try to line it up - I just hung them in the general location for a picture or two - They would line up with the fender wells to where it wouldnt be an issue - it was hot outside and I did this quickly

I agree, it's hard to tell, maybe try lining it up so the part at the rear lines up.

IMO i think your car would look better wihtout it, it looks a little cluttered to me.

Edit - you posted your last post while I was writing. It's hard for me to tell without it lining up in the pic but I still think its a little much.

Okay, after looking at the black car with the rockers in the correct place you can count me as a YEA! If you decide not to use them I know where you can sell them. That black car is HOT!

Michelle - You are guaranteed first dibs if I choose another route. This will take a few nights to sleep on

I like it, but I think the "cluttered" look might be improved by getting rid of the door guards. The black car doesn't have them and I think that's why it looks better.

I had the opposite expectation from Michelle -- I thought I wouldn't care for it. I actually like it a lot! I like the wheels, too. Are those 18" kinesis? I would love a set of those in 17" for my car.

I would skip spraying the original 951 sills red at all costs. I've never seen a car in person with that treatment that didn't look like it had lost a fight with Earl Scheib.

great looking car!!!!!!!My opinion, u did ask, its a bit much, not very suttle or blendy. I have seen some rocker panel mods that seem to flow better. Might mess up the airodynamics, be carefull.

I say go for it. IMO they add to the graceful profile of the car, which the rest of the 968 body brought out.

Your Earl Scheib comment has been noted. haha

They are 18" Kinesis - got them for a song and then powdercoated them. Keep your eyes open I see them for sale quite a bit...

Im glad I posted this as I am getting alot more Nay's than Yay's. I figured it would be the opposite...I often go through this contemplation phase - Ill either wake up one day and do it or wake up and sell them

I totally agree, I said the same thing to Justin earlier. However, Im guessing that removing the door guards and having it look "good' will not be a easy task.

I say you have them painted zermatt and I will install them on my car.... No but I think installed right and take the body side molding off they will look very good. But I also think something needs to be added to the rear of the car to make it flow better. Like the bumper needs to be lower or something. Just my 2 cents.
