Default What is it with 911 and boxster drivers?

I don't get it I wave to a guy in a 928 or a 944 and they wave back. I do the same to a Boxster driver and they just look at me weird. I don't get it. We both drive a Porsche. Sure yours cost a lot more but who cares about price isn't all about being a car entuasist when you own these cars or is it status. I saw an older 911 turbo s convert and he didn't even look over at me. It pisses me off. Its like I'm riding a sport bike and they are riding a Harley. Am I just crazy or does this happen to others on here?

I wave at all the Porsche's I see, no matter which one I am driving.

I stopped waving. It's unnecessary and few other porsche drivers acknowledge you, no matter what they are driving.

In my area, it seems like most of the new Porsches are driven by posers for status. They probably don't even realize my old 944 is a Porsche. I always get waves from the older Porsches though, even had an hour long conversation with a 924 driver that I parked next to at Cub Foods.

I'm guessing that a lot of 986 owners don't even know what a 944 is. Prolly don't care much. Heck I've only had one person ever wave at me driving a MB when I was driving mine. Even old 23 year old MB's just like mine!

I agree. Every once in a while I try it, but nobody seems to notice the 968 anyway. So now I just stick to concentrating on the road ahead than what's coming the other way.

Nope, never happens to me. I think you should seek therapy.

It's a judgement call. Out here 99% of the Boxster drivers are poseurs so I generally don't bother. Water cooled models, absolutely. Earlier 911s usually (typically owned by enthusiasts). Late model 911s are usually doctors or lawyers in their 60s bordering on retirement, so I usually don't bother. 911 cabriolets are usually self-important entertainment industry types so I similarly don't bother. Of course if they wave first or give a thumbs up or something (yes, I've had it happen) I'll gladly reciprocate and have a conversation with.

Cayenne owners fall into the SUV category; SUVs get no respect or courtesy of any type from me. In fact I go out of my way to be rude to them. I'll cut them off, not let 'em change lanes in front of me, etc. on general principle.

That is the most assinine thing I have read in awhile. Jesus. You need therapy as well.

Yes, you've really got to watch out for those 911/Boxster/Cayenne owning types. So many of them are obnoxious, narrow-minded a**holes, probably lumping all us 944 drivers into some ridiculously small-minded stereotypical category...

I would wave to other 944s out there but until I hear them pass me I can't tell if it is a real 924/944 or one of those bastardized ones. Since I live near CT, I wouldn't want to erroneously wave to one of them so instead I dont wave to 924/944s. Since I don't wave to them, I dont wave to any Porsches.

Lump 'em all into one category, don't give a fellow human an opening, and then act like you're not the problem.
