Hi everyone! I'm the proud new owner of my first 944, and what a 944 it is! It's an '89 Baltic Blue S2, with (IMHO) a very stylish white leather interior.

You know you're getting pictures - check the attachment!

I picked it up in December, so the images are from a 50 degree day in January that my friends and I turned into a carwash day

Also, I do have a small question to ask, if it's not being too bold for an FP:

Is there anyone in the Milwaukee area who has done the timing belt and/or water pump job themselves that would be interested in helping me out? My 944 came from Illinois in what looks to be a wonderfully maintained condition - but sadly it does not have well kept records. So I ordered a belt kit, a water pump and tools from Paragon this week. My intention is to remove the old belts and water pump this weekend, and install the new ones when they come in. The UPS man will be here early next week with the goods, by the looks of it - but if someone in the area has the experience (and some of the specialty tools), I'd love to have you over this weekend (or whenever) to help out with the belt job and share experience. Anyone interested?

Thanks for the offer 35th - you will most likely see a q or two from me since I've never done this before. I'm going to be working strictly from Clark's and Arnn's tech articles, and I have the Haynes for the NA models - so hopefully that will be enough to get me started.

I'll get her registered with p-caronline.com asap, Matt - thanks for the tip.

The evo is my current daily driver but I think it will end up being replaced by the 944

Welcome to Rennlist, and what a nice car!

I'm up in Toronto, so not much help there. However, if you have no record of chain tensioner replacement on the car, I would definitely consider it. (The chain tensioner I am describing acts on the short chain that connects the intake and exhaust cams, it is seen easily when the valve cover is removed). Actual chain tensioner service intervals do not exist from Porsche (to my knowledge), but if you search you'll find a lot of discussion on this. However, if it was me, I'd probably play it really safe and do it at 60K.

Clark's is a good resource for this stuff, and I ordered the necessary special tools from Arnnworx and they are just fine. It's not a hard job and there are lots of folk on here who can answer any question that comes up as you go.

Sam, That's a sweet lookn' car. And I see you have done your homework, take care of the mechanicals and she'll be around for many years!

My car's twin!!! . . but are you sure its Baltic Blue, and not Dove Blue. I ran the paint code for mine and it said it was Dove Blue. . . but online codes could be wrong.
