Default 20 years old with Original paint, still a looker! *56k*

Cleaned up the car this morning, and i have to say, paint chips and all im still impressed, guess that means i can hold on to it a bit longer before i make the 951 plunge

so heres some eye candy

btw, are my wheels C2's? PO had them put on and i thought they were, but then i saw some and they looked to have a little more curvature on the spokes

B-E-A-UTIFUL!

Love it.

I think the wheels are from a 968, don't quote me on that, I could be wrong.

The wheels are originally from 911's (and 928's I believe), 968's have a different style cup wheel.

What year is your car Wizkid? We must be twins!

Nice looking ride.
The wheels are called Cup 1, they were used by factory on a 964 and 928 models.

Looks nice. I'm partial to black cars myself, I wish I had the original paint on mine. My 83 is original paint but has the usual chips and boo-boos of a hard 22 year life.

Those wheels are Mille Milgia aftermarket Cup1 lookalikes. You can tell because the spokes are a bit more square and thicker. Real OEM Porsche cup wheels have numbers on either side of the valve stem. mille miglia's don't.

OEM 964 and 968 16" cup1s have the exact same spokes, as do the 17" cup1's from 911's, 928's and 968's. The only difference is backspacing/offset/widths

BTW, Cup1 is aka C2

its an 85.5, im a little uncertain how many previous owners it had, the first one was a lady, and she had it serviced at the dealer for the first 30k miles, it was stamped in the owners manual, but then afterwards one of the owners put a different aftermarket coil pack in there which is mounted next to the spot where you adjust the front suspension, and had new wires installed, i found a stamp on the radiator in german saying it was installed nov. of 2004 (i bought it in january of this year) so i think i was lucky enough to have some work done on it shortly before it fell into my hands

i think you are right Rich, i just ran outside and i dont have any numbers next to the valve stem thats ok though, i still like them. center caps are hand-painted by yours truly because i didnt like the regular silver ones and they look great unless you get right up on them.

hmm, what else. it has 193,000 and seems to run like a champ, power everything works, hatch doesnt seal quite perfectly but hey, who's does? when i picked it up the shift boot was off of the ring, and and the dust cap was torn, the shifter itself looked a little shinier than what a 20 yr. old one would imo and i believe it was replaced, because the C-clip that keeps the shifter attatched to the shift rod that actually changes the gear (i dont remember the correct name) is missing which i think is causing a little slop, need to track down what size that is and put one on there.

oh ya, only other thing i had to change was windshield washer pump because original had seized, bought a new one (refused to buy a universal and mount it "anywhere" because im a stubborn sob) and while it spins great, i think the lines are clogged and so far ive been to lazy to try and clean them, i just mooch off the gas stations squeegies when i fill up and it cleans it off just fine

hopefully some of you all can see it in person at 944fest

Great looking 944.
BTW the center caps look awsome. I have considered painting mine too.
What did you use? (Kind of paint I mean)
If you got a close-up shot of the center caps, can you post it so we can see your handy work?

i dont have any off hand, and its 10 PM right now, so if i remember to ill try to get some in the next day or so. i used paint markers from my hardware store where i work, krylon makes them. i bought gold and black in the pens, and then since we didnt have a red, i bought a testors bodel of model paint and a very very fine brush. i could use the markers for part of it, but then i used a toothpick to get some of the tougher spots. and it took a few hours. then i sprayed over it with a clear coat to prevent them from flaking off, seems to have worked so far

i lied, i found one -
After i painted is on the left, previously is on the right (on a different forum people got confused and started critisizing(sp?) me for painting them silver, i took that as a compliment)

I painted mine as well. GO to AutoZone and get three bottles of touchup paint....the brush is included!
