Default OT: Mercedes PS fluid

My neighbor asked me to help her with her car and I found it needs some PS fluid. Does Mercedes use anything special or will plain old PS fluid work fine? I think Honda is the only one that uses an odd fluid but I'm not 100% sure. TIA.

Some Audis use 'green gold' or Pentosyn. Some Fords use Type F ATF, but eventually they switched to Dexron. Some cars use plain ol' 'Power Steering Fluid' (but don't try it in your Porsche.) I do not know about Mercedes. Best thing to do is check the spec for that particular Mercedes rather than ask here and hope whoever answers is right.

Thought of checking the book but unfortunately this is an older car and the book is long gone. Guess I'll just tell her to goto the dealership and get a bottle.

VW uses the Pentosin fluid as well. It's required to keep your warranty.
They also use a tranny fluid we like to refer to as "LIQUID GOLD" - a $250 dealer tranny flush is rediculous!

Her manual should tell you what to use in it.

Go to www.carpartstogo.com and search "Steering" under make/model/year. It will list the specified fluid for the car.

Mercedes does use a special ps fluid made by Febi. They warn of all kinds of dire stuff if you don't use it. You can get it any mercedes dealer or at benzbin.com. Mercedes also have a filter in the ps reservoir you may want to change while you're messing with fluid.
