Has anyone used the Phantom II Jammer / Detector?
I'm wondering if this thing is any good or if it's snake oil. Anyone know?

Jeff, a laser jammer will get you pulled over. if it jams once, and you slow down so that when the officer attempts again, the unit allows the laser to work, then you may be ok, but if he can;t get a reading on your car, hes going to pull you over for having a laser jammer.

i don't believe laser jammers are illegal (most places anyway), so even if you get pulled over with one it shouldn't matter. radar jammers are illegal howerver, and moreover most of them (not sure of that one particularly) don't work. get a valentine one.

I've been looking at this for a little while now. The Valentines are not the ones to buy right now. The Escort 8500 X50 and the competing Bell unit are the ones to choose from.

You'd be suprised. Think of some of the things that are illegal in our society - various radio signals, plants, even certain inks / dyes. I have a Passport (forget the model) that's decent, but about 4 years old and I think it's finally died on me. Most of my driving (90%) is on LA freeways, so speeding is hardly ever an issue (rarely even an opportunity, except if I'm being VERY aggressive). I like the concept of a jammer far more than a simple detector - especially with laser. Basically a laser detector is worthless - it just means "congratulations, you're dead". I've seen somewhere a jammer that will not just return a "blank" signal but whatever value you program it to. For example if you're doing 65 in a 55, you can program it so when the gun hits you, it returns a 55 or even a 50 or whatever. I don't remember where I saw this particular model and I'm not 100% sure it would work with laser AND radar or just radar. . . Anyone know about this? Can you vary the programming of what the readout on the gun would be "on the fly" to compensate for various speed limits?
A couple of people have said the V1 is very good and swear by it, but knowing my luck, I'd get one and get nailed the next day by laser so I'd be out the 300 bucks for nothing. Story of my life.

Jammers should be illegal because none of them work.
I've owned five or six different detectors and they all worked about the same. They go beep, I slow down. I currently own a cheapo I bought on e-bay for $20, it works great.

You've avoided tickets with LASER? You sure? I thought laser was a "sure thing" as far as accurate targeting. Basically that it would hit the desired car and nothing else. Unlike radar, there's no scatter of the signal to be picked up by a detector - or at least that's my understanding. . .

I guess that's true, there would be SOME refraction, but yea - you'd be pretty damn lucky to catch any rays. Maybe I just need to go up to Tonopah and see if they've got any more barrels of that radar-absorbing paint they used on the Stealth 117 prototypes lying around. . .

Using my Valentine One, I've avoided laser traps also. If you're alone on the road, you're out of luck, but if there's a car ahead of you that gets hit with the laser, the Valentine picks it up well. You do need to be quick, though.
