Default Oil temp sender in drain plug install

I determined that for reasons not clear to me, VDO does not make an oil temp sender in the 20mm size needed for my car to replace the oil drain plug (which has a 968 oil pan). So I got a Blitz (Japanese company) 20mm oil drain plug which comes predrilled and threaded for a 1/8 NPT sender ($15 from overboost.com). I also got a VDO 1/8 NPT oil temp sender (about $10 from egauges.com). Unfortunately, even though they were supposed to both be 1/8 NPT size, the fit was way too tight. I ended up only being able to get the sender in about halfway before I knew it would break sender if I forced it in more. Oh well it should work I guess, because the end of sender is still in direct contact with the oil. At worst it will read a little low. This is definitely the easy way to add an oil temp sender. I didn't even change oil, just swapped out the plugs real quick with a bunch of rags under it. See my other post for where I installed oil temp gauge.

VDO does make a 20mm sender.

Show me a link/part number. I didn't find anyone selling one. The largest I see available now is 18mm. They apparently used to make larger ones (in the 80s maybe) including 22mm, but I don't see any for sale now bigger than 18.

There's somebody on EBay selling them here and there, but I'm not sure if they fit a 968 oil pan. I've been told by the seller that they do fit a 944 oil pan, and I'll be picking one up for my 951

I don't have a link - I didn't know they were discontinued as my local VW shop has every size on the shelf, including 20 and 22 (just bought a pair of each last month).

Zero, pan is 20mm. (edited to correct)

Can anyone verify the size of the drain plug for a 944, 22mm correct? David from 968Engineering is drilling and tapping a drain plug for me sometime this week, i want to make sure i tell him the correct size!

Edit - I am looking at the workshop manual right now, says its M20x1.5 . I would check myself, but i am not at my car until later in the week.

I was going by the workshop manuals as well, which specify that it is M20x1.5
