Question 944 acceleration

Hello, this is my first post. I've been reading the rennlist for awhile and finally joined. I've owned my 86 944 for only a little bit. I have searched the archives and have found no answer to this question. By stop watch, what is a time in 3rd or 4th gear accelerating from 4000 rpm's to 6000 rpm's? I would like to compare numbers of my 160K mile engine to other 944's w/ any engine combination: NA, turbo, V8. I would like to see where my car stands. My car doesn't feel bad, but I'd still like to know. Thanks

It says Porsche. So its faster than anything else in the world. Its an exotic supercar built over in Germany in the Black Forest where they toot those big 10 foot Ricola cough drop horns. You have close to 1500 horsepower under the hood and one Porsche horsepower is like three for anyone else so you get a bit of a bonus there. These cars cost like $350,000 too. Even a bare-bones model. You could feed a small country for 6 weeks for the price of one of these babies.

Theres pretty much nothing on the road that can keep up with you, even light jet aircraft. If you want to talk to people about numbers, so be it, but sometimes the obvious is better left unsaid.

I think becuase the data came from a review for the 89 model (even though it says 88) with the 2.7 liter, not the previous 2.5 L.

Neat stuff... good to know

Hey UDPride...I just got one thing to say....as I drive away in my rocket NA with both windows down.....

I would think the numbers for the 944 and the S are different due to the Gear ratios. ?? not 100% sure though

4th gear 20-40 in 6.5 seconds? Yeah right. Some how the 4th gear acceleration gets slower as speeds get faster.

Thanks for the chart, but since speedometers can't be trusted all the time I'm really looking for RPM rise time in a specific gear.
