Default Option code 715? "Control PV-U production pilot run" ????

I looked at the option sticker of my 944 today and all of them would decode at the decoder site. Except 715. I'm sure I wrote it down right, but I don't have the car yet so I can't re-check. ANybody else have the option? The 7xx series options seem to be "special" models, but no 715 . . .

. . . Doing a search turned up this page. Does anybody have any idea what "Control PV-U production pilot run (944)" means?

Is this good or bad?

I've goth the same M715 option code as yours too! My build date was 9/1984 which I think is after the summer holiday in Germany and when they usally implement new model year changes. It could be the Wurth undercoating (Polyvinyl Undercoating) initial run? That would be my best guess. I'm at a loss to what this "M715" is too. Here's my option code sticker.

ps I'm picking the Porsche up today from Libra Racing after the repaint! Photos >>http://gallery.mac.com/studiors#1001...lack&view=grid

That's a nice color!
I'm kinda partial to purple cars.

I've just posted photos from yesterday, the first day driving it!!! oHmYgeawd! Uber-haut it is, good one!

I just can barely contain myself on the fact that I "saved" another 944 from the recycling heap with all the recent postings of everyone parting more perfectly good running Porsche 944's out. Anyway, yeah it still leaks PS fluid, the AC is shot, my sunroof cables are totally tweeked (swapping to manual) the speedo is busted, and it needs an alignment but, man oh man does it have paint now baby! Talk about shooting a direct injection of enthusiasum back into me - wow!

The premier showing will be March 5-6 at the Sports Car Club of Vermont's annual Burlington, VT University mall car show. Next in line are all the autocross and hillclimb series starting May 1.

I'll swap over my pinter 195/65-15 M+S snows for my Fuchs, sans hubcaps for the factory club sport look.

Some items still left to do, 951 lower side sills (thanks Derek 9fitty1 !!!), lower front bat wing, and of course swap over to my Fuchs! I guess I'll have to wait until after mud season... here are some more pics.

I'll tell you all this - I LOVE Porsche 944's period. And anyway I can help elevate the 944 back up to a *higher* status among other Porsche owners, will be to give us some awesome graphics. I crave trick factory looking stuff so late this last week (in prep of my painting of course) I crafted up these kewl little "2,5" litre Sport decals.

Sport Gruppe GT is what I'm calling it.

I'm having fun tonight! Sorry for the bump...

I found the long lost option code M715, maybe it's "PolyVinyl-Uber sticker" !!! for us 2,5 litre gearnuts!

Is this back window material?? Give all those R-Gruppe guys something to be envious over...

Really I don't have a clue to what the option code 715 is, but I stayed at Holiday Inn express last night...

Ever figure this out? I bought my 944 from Chris (Moonboy) last summer and I've been wondering ever since..

Does option 401 (Light Metal Wheels) mean the fuchs were ordered with the car or does it mean cookie cutters? I'm not concerned with it being orginal or anything, just curious

back to work for me !
