First post and Where can I get the 9288 fault reader
This is my first post here. You may have seen me on Pelican too.
I just picked up an '89 S2 after I totalled my e34 BMW. My first H2O Porsche. I also have a 914. Actually 2 914's but one is a project. I picked up some factory manuals for the 944. However, they would probably be more useful if I had the 9288 Fault Code Reader. Anyone know where I can get this unit? I am almost afraid to ask but, Whats the cost?
The pics are my 2 P-Cars, and RIP my beloved e34.

AZ- not to be a vulture, but do you have any of the parts off the E34? I have a 95 E34 540. Might be interested in some of the parts from yours!

PCA discount, thats Cute. I knew it was probably not realistic, but even that exceeded my expectations. Are you serious about building one? Its not a problem, I just need to know how. What do you do, just jump some pins with a light?

Matt, Not a problem I kept some aftermarket stuff to sell.
The wheels in the pic 17's powdercoated black
Hella smoked High beams, I had the smoked Hella set (see them at bekkers.com) but the low beams got wasted.
Custom sealed kick panel enclosures for 6.5" component speakers. Homemade but nice.
AC Schnitzer exhaust tip, for 525 probably would not fit your car.
EAT Chip for 525 again wouldn't fit your car.
Driver side OEM ellipsoid headlight assembly, left over from when I put in the smoked Hellas.
Stock turn indicators.
Front license plate delete piece. Embossed with "BMW"
Some small stuff like a homemade baffle for mounting a free-air sub in the Ski-Hole
Lens protectors for the turn indicators and and foglights, used the rest of the set on the smoked Hellas.
Probably something else I am not thinking of.

Did the lower lip survive? how about the blacked out front grill? I wouldnt mind having the headlight set but I REALLY need a low beam set.

The bumper cover and brake ducts did survive, but the car went to salvage. I elected not to mess with parting it out. Low beams got wasted. Like I said I do have the whole OEM driver side assembly, but that is not quite what you need.
That is my second blacked out grill on the car. The first one, I painted while it was still on the car. You just have to mask it carefully, sand the chrome off. Mask it again because you will tear the first job a little bit. Prime with Krylon, paint with Krylon Semi-black. That is what I did the first time and it came out great. Second time, I painted the grill off of the car with SEM Trim Paint and it chipped more than the Krylon.

I think the homemade code reader only applies to the turbos, not the S2, or at least that's what Danno & Lindsey bros indicate (codes are driven off KLR). But for under $4 he could give it a shot.

I believe the Hammer tool is what I am talking about. The Porsche Manuals refer to it as Porsche Diagnostic tool #9288. I doubt it is realistic to buy one for personal use, but I thought I would ask. There has to be a way to read the Blink codes with an LED.
