Yeah I looked at the Lindsey blink codes some time ago. They are the knock codes from the KLR, not for the NA.

Question Would you buy it if they make the software for it?

I recently found out about the P9288 Bosch 'Hammer' tool. But then I was pointed to this in the 928 boards JDS Porsche Tool.

I don't know if they have made the software for our cars but I am going to find out.

It comes from a company here in the UK. AFAIK, the tool is universal and not specific for the 928. A guy on the PCGB forum just had his car tested. Not sure if it was from the JDS tool though.....

I am in the process of writing software that provides the same functionality as the Bosch Hammer. Initial support will be for all modules used in 968 and 944. It should also work for many 964/993 modules although I will need to get access to one to finalize this app. This is PC-based (of course) and I will also be providing an adaptor for the Porsche proprietary diagnostic adaptor. I should have the software completed within the next 2-4 weeks, depending on how much free time I have to work on it.

I have a JDS diagnostic tool and am helping John (the guy that came up with it) develop the software. Its pretty well sorted for 928's, but has a way to go for 944/968's and 964's at the moment. Give us a bit of time and it should be a highly coveted tool. Its pretty slick overall and does a LOT more than just read blink codes. He is selling them for $650 shipped, at the link listed above.

If you can use a scan tool there should be no problem pickup up a used Snap On Scanner, while the non OBDII cars wont have "codes" per se, it will tell you what is wrong with the car. If you get one with a lab scope built it you have all you need to diagnose virtually any car on the market.

Roy, the software with cable should be in the $150 range. More details will come in the next few weeks but I believe people will be very pleased with its capabilities. I am professionaly involved in Bosch engine management calibration, and software tool creation. Hence, this is professional grade software. I am doing this as a personal project as I see it at something the enthusiasts need (being an enthusiast myself). Actually, I started the project afther being frustrated that I couldn't even connect to my airbag module on my 968 to clear the faults codes after pulling the steering wheel without using the factory tool. The Porsche tools are ridiculously (and unjustifiably) expensive.

BTW, I have also been working on reverse-engineering the 968 engine management. I have already completed an extensive portion of this and will be posting everything on my website for anyone to see.

Whatever happened to Brett's software project? Anybody using it?

Thanks, Kevin
