Question steering wheel removal

i have the
431 Leather Steering Wheel 363MM (Not Available w/Airbags) and not sure how to get the horn rectangle removed and i really don't want to break it.

if it's the standard non-airbag wheel - pull real hard on the rubber/plasticized rectangular horn button. it will feel like it's going to break, but it won't. it's just stuck in there really hard with a few pop-in buttons.

Factory manuals, included a section for the 944s, not many differences
theres always clarksgarage.com
haynes=junk for most serious projects. Don't trust everything you read in there.

haynes is only reliable enough on a 944 to be used as quick reference, say for a torque spec or reminding you of the order of operations. factory manuals are good, provided you can decipher the translation and have the expected competency of a fledgling factory tech. Online step by steps by places like clark's seem to be best.

In regards to the horn pad, on mine I first pull on the bottom half, popping it loose. Then I do the top, puts a little less stress on the pad.

like children and fools, the bottom did come off 1st, can't say i planned it that way.

Patrick, I wouldn't even trust haynes for torque specs, always verify, they are known to be wrong horribly on some of those as well...

bearone, yeah, its a little scary pulling that thing off the first time,
