Default My new project, and nope, it's not a parts car.

I picked the car up back in Nov. Haven't had time to start on it, but do now. It is a 88 "Special Edition" in the Zemmitt silver. I was shocked when I got down to Atlanta to pick it up and discovered that it was one of the Special Edition. I now have one of each color, the Satin Black Met, and the Zemmitt Silver!!!
This one will have some mods. The timing belt had broken on it. I will be replacing the head with a 951 head. According to Jim Pasha, the 951 head will make a major difference in the car. I will also be adding a throttle cam and K/N airfilter. I will also be coverting it over to a 5-speed. I have located a 944S tranny for it. As far as the funky plaid interior, I will be replacing the seats with black leather ones and the door panels with black. I will be leaving the light grey carpet in it. I think the black seats will look cool with the carpet. I will be leaving the grey map-pockets on the black door panels.
These are the before pics. I will be posting the finished project hope in a couple of weeks.

If you're doing a full restoration including reupholstry I'm sure there's someway you can get a hold of that fabric for the inseam of the seats, if not try Parts Heaven for a used seat in better condition.

Good luck to you on your project. The 944 community needs more people like you and other enthusiasts on Rennlist to preserve and restore a dying breed of classic cars.

Ive always wondered how seats get torn like that. I mean do people tote their rottweilers with them to KMart then lock them in the car for an hour while they go inside. Seems to me you would have to physically make a concerted effort to ruin a seat like that.

Looks like a great project car and you probably got it on firesale. Sounds great man!

I would like to know though what the secret sauce is to getting Porsche seats too look like theyve been attacked by hyenas. That seat is actually tame compared to others we see on here.

I'm not sure how that seat go so tore up. The inside was pretty dirty. When I swap out the front and rear seats for the black leather, I plan on pulling the carpet and scrubing it down and rinsing it out really good. I have done that to a couple of the carpet sets out of the parts cars, and they turned out like new.

Xsboost's "ol poopy" 924 interior was actually attacked by a dog- the chew marks all over the interior were hilarious! I wonder if he kept the glove box door... a classic.

I will also be adding turbo front and rear sway bars and Koni yellows front and rear as well as 951 torison bars. I have a set of 951 front spring also that I will be putting on. That should change the handling some!!!
I only part the cars that are wrecked. I take some heat on here for parting cars all of the time, but from the money I have made, I have been able so save 3 cars that other folks would have make into parts cars.

How can you justify parting out all these great cars? Once they're parted out, they're gone forever. How can you sleep at night? How do you explain your actions to your children? People rot in Hell for less that this! Hell they only made a billizion of them, and everyone you part out is one less that I can stick a V8 in!! Hahahahahahahah! Headed to the boat show. Did you know the Hunters Expo is this weekend?
