New 968 cab owner
Hello all,
Been reading alot about the 968 and just got one last week. I been working on cars all my life. First 968.. Going to do the timing belt/balance and roller replacement. I was reading two tool needed. The 9201 which is a 50/50 need(do the 90 test). and the 9206/1 for the flywheel. Where can i find this tool 9206/1? How much time is needed? Part prices? I have done timing belts on: sho's, 300zx's, supra's. I am guessing it is as hard as those??? Any help would be great. thanks

t-belt isn't a bad job at all. (speaking from experience with a 944) i haven't actually worked on a 968 though. congrats on the purchase...and welcome to the board!
and yes...we must have pics!

Congrats on the cabrio -they're great cars! As for the tools, do a search for "arnworx." There's a fellow who sells aftermarket tools for the timing belt job who goes by that name. Several satisfied customers.
What's the weather like in your area? Hope you're getting some top-down time!

Congrats on the purchase, you will love it! Out of curiousity, where are you from?
The 968 has the dual mass flywheel, which requires a slightly different flywheel lock than the regular 944, so make sure you get the right one. As you noted, its the 9206/1 flywheel lock, pn 944.721.920.61. Make that the parts guy selling it to you doesn't try to talk you into the 944 version. You'll find that most folks, even at the dealerships, won't know the difference.

You can probably find the flywheel lock FAR cheaper by calling around to places like Paragon, Lindsey, etc. If not, check a couple of the 968 forums - they have a pretty cult-like following as well, so someone's bound to know exactly what you need and where to get it.
And congrats! The 968 cabs are GORGEOUS! Post pics please!

Congrats and welcome to the family! Be sure to check out http://www.968.net for lots of 968-specific information and for the 968 forums. You'll find lots of great information there as well as here.
968 Cabs are great - we really love ours. What color combo / year / transmission did you get?

Every now and then the "Discussions" page goes down. I just tried right now and its back up. The "Discussion" section is really the bulk of the page and where you'll find the best info. THe 968 forums here on Rennlist are good too but just not as active.
