total 2004 expense
I am closing my 2004 numbers, in brief my car's repair and parts bills for the entire year amounted to: 1.885 U$S dollars
I am not counting insurance and gas bills (around 60 dollars per month: 30 insurance+30 gas)
I expect to spend less in 2005 as my car surely is running out of things to break (I hope)

Hmm...my 944 probably topped $8 or 9 grad this year alone. Not too sure though, as I haven't added up all the receipts yet.
(don't worry, I didn't spend $8 grand on oil changes & belt changes, my car had two insurance claims this year, both nearing $4k, so that's where most of the expense came from).

I have spent very little on mine this year, maybe 1k including the body parts I have bought. Next year will be different. I will have to buy tires and do the brakes by summer. I don't put alot of miles on a car 6-7k a year.

According to my records, I have spent $1215 (this includes $310 for gas) on the 951 this year. Mechanical stuff included brake pads, sensors, SS lines, booster, master cylinder, most vacuum lines, intake manifold gaskets, FPR, 2 starter solenoids (my dumb a$$ toasted the first one), electric waterpump, tranny and hydraulic fluids replaced and a few oil changes. It looks like I put around 3500 miles on the car this year.
edit:
Only looking at the mechanical stuff, I managed to spend more on my Honda (daily driver) this past year than I did on the 951. If we would have done this for '03 it would have been a completely different story!

Only $30 a month for insurance? Lucky bastard, im at $386CDN...
Lets see...
Car: $8200USD/$11000CDN
Importing and Taxes: ~$4000CDN I think.
Insurance/Month: $380CDN or so.
Gas/Month: I think I average around $150CDN, except for roadtrips, which can be $250-300CDN in gas in a weekend.
"Go Faster Bits": Hmmm tough call here, but I think im up to around $1500CDN?
Maintenance: This I dont want to add up, but I think its up around $4-5000CDN, ive been taking the "Replace anything I can as im fixing something else" approach, plus theres the cars mileage so lots of little things need TLC.
Summary: No regrets at all so far. I didnt buy it thinking it would be cheap, I knew it would be a damn expensive car to own. I bought it because I knew id have a BLAST everytime I drive her, and to be honest I have had a blast everytime I drive her. So far theres an easy 4000 miles in roadtrips alone on her, and tons of other miles. I bought the car with 194k miles on it, and its now just under 213k miles. Almost 20k miles in 8 or 9 months. Im already planning another 1k+ mile roadtrip for March, as a shakedown run after the next big round of repairs/upgrades/etc. I already cant wait! And the best bit? Despite the fact that shes been up on jackstands many many times, she has yet to leave me stranded anywhere, or make me worry about getting stranded. Closest ive come to stranded was when the starter died, and that was a pushstart and im on my way.

Where does one draw the line between "preventive maintenance" and "upgrades / modifications" though? Isn't an upgrade a form of preventive maintenance since you're replacing a (in most cases) perfectly functioning part with another perfectly functioning (usually better) part with fewer or zero miles / time on it?
I break it down into "repairs", "preventive maintenance" and "upgrades". All told I've probably spent about $5K this year - $12K if you count the 951 purchase and all associated costs (registration, insurance, etc.)

Well, this year I only spent $3400. That was for the car. My insurance is about $550 every 6 months. (I'm over 25 and only have 1 infraction) California is not good for insurance rates! Anywho - I have a budget of $250 per month next year for the car's maintenance / upgrades. I'll probably exceed it slightly.

Okay since I don't pick my 944 up until Sun the 2nd my 2004 Bill is $0.00
Just had to post that since as long as I own it I doubt that I will ever be able to say that again. Although the gas bill in my 01 Burb for the year was $3600 Plus Oil changes...........

I spent a ton on mine but none of it was maintenance related except for about $50 for new timing & balance belts. Everything else was money spent to make the car nice.

I spent 15000 over three years on my red one.
Just belts and wheels this year on the gray one.

Well, let's see- outside of normal fuel/maintenance, I had to deal with the following costs this year:
- T-belt went tango uniform, taking eight exhaust valves with it: 3300.00
- New tires: 300.00
- T-belt tension/replace lower left control arm/fix rt mirror: 519.00
I guess it's cheaper than a smack habit, but not by much!
