Default How old were you when you got your drivers license?

Ashton got me thinking. (I know, be quiet.. )How old were you when you got your drivers license.
I'll start.

Age: 16 years and 1 month. Licensed in June 1976 (edited)

Here's the reason. My oldest son head to get his license before the Army would take him - he was 18 years and 6 months.
My youngest son will be 17 in March, and no desire to obtain a drivers permit. sheesh

(Where did I go wrong... )

I think I was 18 or 19. I could have gotten it earlier, but I had no need to and no time to.

I was building a 79 Grand Prix 454, 4 spd for a year prior to starting drivers ed. It was to be finished on my 16th birthday (A huge undertaking mostly oo my own, I traded it for a 66 corvair a year later..it was WAAY to fast, 1.68 quarters - hell it weighed 4000lbs..)
Alsa it was not finished on my birthday, but a month later. You can only make so much cash by slinging tacos while at high school full time. , but I did take my drivers exam in it. The guy at DOT was apprehensive as I fired up the huge pearl white beast for the skills and road test..

EDIT- I learned to drive in a 64 chevy pickup, 3 on the tree. I was 10.

15 years and 11 months. Ohio just passed a law one month before I got my lic. about getting it a 15.5 then keeping the temp for the first 6 months. I got my temps at that time and got my full lic. at 16 years to the day! Couldn't wait, I already had my car at the time, '86 Fiero GT, just waiting to be driven. That is a fun car, nothing like my car now though!!

I got my learners when I was 16 but been driving some type of vehicles since 13 over in Europe and I got my license when I was 17 after I bought the 951. Lady told me I didn't shift right in it either because she was kinda large and had a hard time getting into the car after I told her you can move the seat back. I shifted the gears like the manual told me and she said "Engine working to hard and loud you should shift earlier.". No cat kinda loud but not to bad. I couldn't even spool up the turbo lol

I got mine when I was 17. I didn't get my permit until I was 16 because I had failed a class and they ahve that law where if you fail a class you can't have your permit. Yeah, I failed, and I didn't get my permit until a little after I turned 16. I had to have it for 6 months before I could get my license, but not only did we not have the money, I didn't have a car. Right before I was 17, I got a Pontiac 6000 (w00t w00t) and got my licenese almot four years ago, on January 2nd!

I did the driver's ed thing in high school when I was 16, but my parents wouldn't let me get my license until I was 18. Probably had something to do with my Rock-esque driving experience. (I suppose I should post it in that thread). Driving to Grandma's house, snow covered roads, the whole family in the car, and I stuffed it in a snowbank.
