How old were you when you got your drivers license?
#17
Tim (wrecksimple03) -- 16th birthday Day. Got his permit as early as he could (15) so he had a year on his permit. Had to explain to him why it wasn't a good idea to take his test in the 944 !

Motorcycle liscense at 14. Restricted driver's liscense at the same time. South Dakota allows school/farm permits at 14 where you are limited to driving from 6am to 8pm unless your parents are in the car. When you turn 16 you are then granted a regular operator's license providing you have completed driver's ed.

I think I was 16 and a couple months and got my first speeding ticket within a few weeks.
I dated a girl in college who didn't get her's until after we graduated. She didn't really need one living on Bainbridge Island.

From: Central Illinois. Cornfields a plenty.
First ticket would be another great thread..
<back on topic of obtaining license..>
The look of horror on the tester's face when this pearl white '69 Grand Prix..the 455 rumbling thru the dual cherry bombs at 800rpm's. The quick blip to 3000 unleashing a very small part of over 550hp's at the top end.. The functional shaker hood scoop pirated from a 16 Poncho T/A..
I thought he was gonna faint.

I have absolutely no idea when I got my license. It was before senior year of HS because I remember driving to school then. Had a kid in my drivers ed class at school who yelled "His face looks like an Elk Burger!!!" when they showed Blood Runs Red on the Highway or whatever the macabe' Faces of Death film they showed to scare you. Elks were our school mascot and the cafeteria served gross soybeaned Elk Burgers.
I guess you had to be there. I remember laughing so hard at the time I nearly pissed myself.
Only other thing about drivers ed I rememnber is taking a drive in the schools Geo Prizm with three other students and we took the drivers ed teacher to the sporting goods store so he could buy shotgun shells. Hmmm...whats for dinner I thought.

Got my permit shortly after I turned 16, and my license 6 months after. Parents made me wait until I turned 17 before getting a car though (my 944). Before that, I shared a car with my mom.
edit- Oh, and I got my first speeding ticket last Thursday. 4 years after I got my license. I guess it was about time I got caught.

The Monday after I turned 16, I got my learner's. Passed the New Driver's test and Full License test with 3 errors each. Got my first car, an '81 Mustang at the beginning of grade 11. Been driving accident and ticket free for over 6 years! *knocking on wood particle composite computer desk*
