Who has the oldest U.S. 944?
1983 was the first year the 944 was brought to America. So who has the earliest '83? I've seen yearly production numbers but does anyone have monthly?
Mine is: 8/82.

Where do you locate the production date? My clutch disc said 2/82 when removed last month. I'm pretty sure my 83 is a later car due to the power steering. What was your car number? Mine was #610.

Mine was manufactured on 3/83, so you have me beat. Don't remember the VIN number designations as to what number mine is though. Also mine is a manual steering 5 speed car.

On the 21st, the rest is in my sig, I'm guessing about 83-85k miles. No engine work done and not a single leak.

I called Porsche trying to get info on my car. I also wanted to look into one of those birth certificate things, but Porsche had NO info on my car. Anyone else had this problem?

It was a Louisville car (Don Corlett Imports, Shelbyville Road, back then) but IIRC the car was imported by a dealer in Virginia and shipped to Louisville.
Did any books come with your car? There should be a dealer stamp in the warranty booklet. If it's a Louisville car and an 83, it would also have been sold by Don Corlett Imports.

Well, I have an odd ball for the list. My VIN and chassis numbers match up and build date was 3/83, however in the process of gutting the car to restore it I came across something interesting. I actually have 2 cars, yes 2!!! I am still trying to figure it out but it looks like it was hit pretty hard and from the driver seats back the chassis/body is a different color, a new rear was welded on. There is no option code under the hood so I can't determine the cars color when it left the factory but the front of the car is champaigne in color and the rear is moss green. The jokers that did the job even left the burgundy carpet in the rear seat under the brown/black interior set.

My old car was built in March of '82-and was apparently the first one in the midwest, sold new @ Sunflower Porsche/Audi. I think it's for sale again, and you probably won't find one nicer.
