The second owner was a City of G-vile fleet manager. Both him and his boss bought Pcars about the same time. Boss got the 968 though. This was early 90's but they had many friends with the cars too. The dealership up on 13th used to be really good. They dropped Porsche (or porsche dropped them) and now you don't see as many around.

Probably depends on the location how "hot" the car was and waiting list times.

"are the last four digits the same correlation for all 944's? my last four digits are 0212 on my 89, so does that mean #212?"
I've wondered about this too. The last four digits of my 1987 951's VIN are 2177. My car was made on 5/7/87, so it should be one of the last 951s made that year. They made a whole lot more than 2177 '87 951s, though.

My car might get the record for sitting on the lot. It wasn't sold until 3/31/88. My guess is that it spent a couple of months at the dealer before the stock market tanked in Oct. of '87, after which winter set in and no christmas bonuses were to be had. I'm sure that the 1st owner got a $moking deal.

My car sat on a lot for 7 years....where the P.O. had abandoned it. I came to the rescue...
I keep forgetting to check my number.

Mine says 2/82. However, engine is an 85.5 and the original brown interior has been swapped out for black.
