1984 944 engine:
60,000 miles
perfect compression
all records
new clutch w/motor (will detach at torque tube)
I'm picking up this parts car soon, and am wonding what a low mileage motor is worth.
Thanks!!
Jason

I would say maybe 1200?... That's just a guess.
It doesn't look like the damage reached the engine itself. One of the more shocking things, the coolant resevoir is still holding coolant!
I'll take the fog lights

The only part of the engine that got damaged is the airbox snorkle. Still purrs like a kitten.
It was a BEAUTIFUL car, before.......................doh! I hate seeing nice one's like this go down.
The parting hasn't started yet, I MIGHT try and fix it. I'm meeting with a body shop guy Wed.
Stay tuned.

The car will need extensive frame machine time and the left front frame rail is not only buckled and pushed in but also the whole front is push to the passenger side. Keep it as a parts car for your future n/a.

I'm thinking the same, but hoping for the best. One of the turbo guy's here has frame pulling/body shop equipment that I'm going to have look at it. If it's worth saving, I'll do it. If not, the vultures will feed well once again.
Thanks,
Jason

1000 is probably reasonable for a place like rennlist.
I got my 944 engine with 66k and about 160psi compressoin accross all cylinders for $265 (complete with clutch/bellhousing, wiring harness, and other misc things).

Everything and anything is repairable. Some people can't stand a little bit of bondo where I have driven a car put together by welding 2 halves from 2 different cars. It depends on what is acceptable to you and how much it costs.

I'm contemplating the same. My 924S is leaking all over the place, and I've got a pretty much complete spare engine...I just need a crankshaft, and probably another piston (i've been using one as an ashtray)

I can tell ya what Campbell/Nelson told me what they wanted for their used engines. $1000.00 exchange (yep, they want your old one). They'd only say that they can gauranty 160 lbs compression per cylinder (lordy knows, could be 160 in one cyl, 185-190 in others). This is for a long block only, no rail, intake, harness or squat with it like fuel rail, intake and such.
I'd think for what you have, and if its going with the complete clutch/bell, all other stuff like harnesses, manifolds, ect., and with good records, this is an excellent drop in, ready to fire engine, and I would think worth no less than $1500.00 at min., and maybe a little more. You say perfect compression. "perfect" to me would be compression of 185lbs plus or minus 5lbs. (or better) accross all cylinders , if done with engine at operating temp, and a known good compression gage used. I think ya just might have a heck of a good engine for some lucky devil, if he really realizes just how good this is!
Good luck!
If I had'nt just put one in my '85, I'd be working ya hard for it right now.
