Default Wanted : rolling 944 shell with electronics, no engine or wheels needed

I decided I want another 944 and that fixing mine is quite cost-prohibitive. I have sooooooo many parts for this car and I figure why not just swap over the engine, tranny, everything else good about my car... into a car that needs an engine and tranny. The car would preferably have the interior intact and still be completely wired.

BUMP, i've used the search feature, I was hoping a seller would come to me *crosses fingers*. This seems like the most viable option at this point instead of trying to part mine out and then buy a "better" 944. I already know that mine is mechanically sound so I'd rather keep my engine/tranny/etc. and slap it in a "mint" rolling, wired, glass-filled shell with an interior. I might be S.O.L though right? Any other suggestions where to look?

You can look on ebay. You might wait a long time to find a nice car with a blown motor that the owner is willing to sell cheaply, or one might turn up any day now. Buying a runner, maybe a high miler would be easier and you could keep yours as a parts car.

good point Joel. I've found a few.. one in particular is a 85.5 that seemed to be a problem child, guy got it running decenlt and there's no bids, 24 hrs left and it's only 1000. There are a few others like a guy selling 2, one with the same problem as mine.. then a '88 clean wired rolling shell for about 1300 with a day left.. so I have to make a quick decision!

Thanks, but they don't have what I need there, I'm looking for a car with a mint rolling shell that's wired but needs what I have. I've been looking on Ebay and found a car along with a smashed parts car.. the parts is an '88 that's all fine and dandy mechanically but is a salvage title, the black one is MINT and needs what the '88 has so I think I'll pick those two up, start frankensteining while I continue to drive my '84 and re-do the '84 so the suspension and door are fine down the road

How far do you want to travel? The pair of cars is interesting, but Delaware is a long way from Edmonton. You could check autotrader, cars.com and craigslist, but your best bet is someone who knows of a car. Sorry, nothing around here. I've got an 85, but it needs to be rewired.

There's an '84 in Fresno, CA for $900 on cars.com. Sounds nice but no pics.

How in the hell do you expect to find a "rolling" 944 without any wheels? It's late, I'm sober, so not thinking straight, but I don't understand.

Put the car on the trailer, wheels off.. there we go. Save some expenses considering I have 2 sets of rims already.

The shipping costs at 3000+ are QUITE prohibitve right now unfortuantely, considering doing it myself for about 1/3 the price

well then I'll just have to give Rich a talking to! hahah, it's so tough to find ANYBODY in canada with a 944 though. I called a local wrecker and they have a s2 with a rear fire, from the buckets in the back seat back is COMPLETELY burnt and they want 4500 for the whole thing.. i asked how much he paid for it.. and then told him if he paid 1/2 that he got ripped off considering you can get a NICE n/a for 4500 u.s

I have a red/blk one with that runs great w/ straight body you can drive back home for $1750. Even comes with factory side moldings, new steering wheel, and good working power steering. I figure that's a lot cheaper than trying to tow one back....

Lego, Cali is a bit far for me to come down and drive it back, I have a bashed in body with a mint engine/drivetrain, clutch is new(er) etc. And I unfortunately don't have the room to have all the parts I wouldn't need, hanging around. I was looking for a stripped shell that.. or someone maybe with a pooched motor/tranny then I could just swap over all my goodies. I was lookin to spend 900-1000 max. on a shell. (I've seen em for 300 u.s on ebay). I definately don't need a 4th car around here :P But thanks for the suggestion.. These things don't hold up well in winter otherwise I would consider it.. these things have no traction.. my audi quattro goes everywhere
