Question Your opinion please on whether or not to snub nose my N/A

Gentlemen,

Could I have your opinions on doing the snub nose to my 944 please? I've never seen it in person. I'd probably keep the bumper pads - at least for a while.

I'd really appreciate some input! Can post a pic if it helps.

Thanks

You'll be extremely sorry the first time some bozo backs into it in a parking lot, since now all that force will go directly to the chassis and be likely to break more things. Porsche put the pistons in there for a reason and the stock look of the n/a nose is beautiful, IMO. Just my $0.02.

ANd then after you do that, be sure to get the matching snub nose rear bumper from GT-RAcing....! It really changes the car when you get rid of those stupid ugly rear bumpers......!

A lady hit my Son from the rear in the 83, completely broke the facia on her mini van, not even a scuff on the 83. Those shocks are there for a reason. I wouldn't snub it either unless you only drive the car on weekends, even then you never know. If you bend metal in the headlight bar area the repairs go up exponentionally.

2Tight is right. If you snub the nose and eliminate the impact protection you could be looking at bent headlight mechanisms, damaged nose panels headlights and even a punctured radiator.... Use caution and drive safe

IMO it looks like ****, but to each his own. Just don't let your insurance company find out about it, if you get hit I could see the coverage being voided if required safety equipment had been modified. Figure you'd be on your own for any damage regardless of who's fault it was.

IF you get hit hard enough in the front of your 944 to damage or compress the front bumper in the first place without the mod....YOu still probably will have enough damage done to the car that the insurance company is going to total it out and give you a crappy check anyways, or maybe not if you have good coverage.... I have been in an acccident, I was going about 8mph and some one pulled out in front of me in a parking lot....I hit them with my snub nose, and minor damage was done.... And that guys insurance company ending up paying for my 968 mirrors and doorhandles, since I picked up the check and fixed the damage myself......And I also have had my car appraised by my insurance company with the compressed bumper and they never said a thing....But I guess maybe a very mild impact could decide the effects between the 2, stock or not....JUst becarefull where you park, and keep your eyes on the road and not your female passengers and you will be just fine....

The rear bumpers save mycar from much more signifigant damage. All I had to do was replace the shock. If I had the "snubbed" look back there, I'd probably have to replace some sheet metal.

I "snubbed out my front, and love it! Get lots of good comments on how it looks.
I prefered shaving the rear bumper pads off the rear OEM bumper only. It looks better having a rear bumper lip vs. the snubbed rear.

I'd rather keep the stock look, just for the extra protection the bumper pads and shocks give you. While you may be a perfect driver (aren't we all? ), there are plenty of idiots out there who don't pay attention to the road and can end up whacking your back bumper in traffic or backing up into you. I'd much rather have the bumper pads and shocks absorbe the force, instead of the bodywork.

i snubbed my front bumper and changed it back within a two weeks to stock, at a cost of $58 for USED bumper shocks from my local salvage yard. i just didn't like the look of the snubbed front end - too many gaps in the bodywork

I'm going to try it...maybe this weekend. I'm going to keep the bumper pads because without them the bumper looks huge and odd. Maybe I won't mind the gap on the sides very much.
