Personally, I'd never do it. I'd rather have the extra protection and, quite frankly, I never liked the look of the snub nose.

When you come back from the darkside and want to get rid of those hideous gaps that will be on the sides, I have a set of perfect n/a bumpershocks I can sell to you.

DVC, go for it man! I'm planning on doing the mod myself, and I think it would totally complete the look of your kickass car! You have one of my fave NA's BTW...
PS. Hey pearldrum, 1 post away from 1000! Congrats!

THe gaps on the sides as a result of the bumper mod, are over exagerated like everything else on this board...............

It looks great snubbed. I've done it and I'm very happy with the results. Easy/cheap mod, makes the car look 5 years newer too!

Gentlemen- I really appreciate the input.

Friendan- Thanks a lot bro! Your car is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I just got back from checking this mod out; it's easy to demo by removing the bumper and shocks, and pushing the bumper back in and supporting it with towels. I like it! Even with the pads on it has more of the euro bumper profile.

If you're not sure guys, just try it like I did above and there's nothing lost.

I AGREE 100% with Damian regarding the gaps.

Thanks for the props, DVC!
Thats a good idea you have with the demo...I don't need to do the demo because I have it clear in my head! I've been admiring peoples cars on here with the snub nose for over a year now, and I still feel the same about it. About the safety issue: not mayn cars nowadays have bumpers that push in like that, that was just an 80s thing I think. So why not update it? I'd rather have my car look how I want it to and risk getting in a minor accident, because in a major accident it wouldn't matter...besides, its still safer than going with a fiberglass front end ie fiberwerks.

EXactly......Most new cars do not have impact shocks anymore......Rather impact braces behind the bumper covers....!

Brendan & Damian- Well said guys! You summed it up for me. I remember swapping out the 50lb US bumps off of my Rabbit for the euro ones. No bumper shocks, but I didn't care as it looked 500% better.

Just in case somebody's wondering what the mod looks like without the bump pads deleted, here's a couple of crummy pics:

It really needs Damian's chin spoiler now

I like mine without the bumper pads. Maybe I'll try snubbing it sometime...
