Default Official "lets take the 914 engine out" party thread- 11/20/04?

THis is the month, ill be pulling the motor out of the teener to get ready for some underbody welding and paint before installing the new 2.0 i bought. The body work has been started and with the tops of the fenders cut off, rust fixed and then welded back into the cowl making a one piece front end, i would say im off to a good start. I still have some welding on the lower fenders and rear quarters, body work on the doors, and then onto the under body welding, stripping and paint/undercoat.

ANYWAYS, the idea is for those of us that love to get greasy and learn new aspects of porsche tech, this would be our chance. I need to drop the motor and trans, break the two apart and then have a few beers before inspection begins. Also need to pull the tank, fuel lines, do some suspension removal. This car is getting totally stripped so any help is appreciated, should be fun! Ever seen OVERHAULIN, itll be something like that only without the cnc lathe.

I'm no good with a wrench but if I wasn't so busy I'd be there to watch and to drink beer and to keep Chris away from your car at all times!!!!! :-)

youre dropping the motor right? it would be easier to drain the oil before dropping it, if youre going to put it on a stand

Dammit! I can't make it on the 20th!
I could swing by on the 21st if there's any more work to do.

Actually Wade is the professional beer distributor- I'm just an enthusiastic amateur!!

"Overhaulin' meets Hongoverin' " LOL

Not sure of the date yet- I may be in North Carolina..

Have WE decided on a paint color yet?
My vote is the historic 917 Gulf colors..blue with the orange stripe/ number bubble and white pinstripes.. perhaps #20

It sounds like a great time. I will check the calender and hopefully will be able to make this one.
