I think the 3 shim-like rings are there to position the throw-out bearing further or closer to the flywheel, depending on where the rings are placed. In other words, the shims could be used to adjust the point where the clutch engages.
Can somoene comment on this?
If this is the case, is there a clever way of doing the adjustment PRIOR to mounting the bell housing and connecting the clutch components to test for operation? (to save time)
