so far the biggest pain was getting the inner tie rods off, and the ring holding the rack body to the gear housing. also please remember to unscrew the ground wire before thinking you can drop the rack......i forgot mine because i couldnt go straight at the screw until other things were off.

From memory, the plastic elbows connect to a hard plastic tube which acts like a return line. It's not under pressure but fluid does circulate through it.

Hope that helps.

you guys recommend psf or atf in the rack? any ideas on hooking up some sort of filter for the lines? at work, we have one for power steering lines that slips in the line, but its way too small and would just let everything past anyway.

atf is fine...I believe that is what's called for in the manuals (from memory)...You already have a filter in the reservoir and that's why it's recommended to replace it when you replace/rebuild the rack. Cheap insurance as they cost less than $20.

yup, those lines are not under any pressure. IIRC, the kit comes with orings for the plastic pieces, but Travis said they were not really necessary to replace unless they were leaking. ATF for sure, and I had a buddy at the local lube my tube backflush my reservior with ATF from his machine, as I was too cheap to spring for the $20....

well i soaked mine with brake cleaner, and didnt stop till it dripped clear......is this good enough? what exactly did you guys do to pump the fluid through continuously to clean the lines?stick the hose into the full atf jug?
