10 Speaker System Removal '89 Turbo (Pictures)
I keep getting e-mails asking me for pictures of my stereo/speaker job this summer. So here goes for the pictures and key words for those searching:
- 10 speaker system
- ten speaker system
- speaker removal
- rear speaker removal
- will my speakers fit
- fitting new speakers
- darn suckers won't fit
If anybody can think of any other key words post them:

Thanks for the link to this thread Eddie- I have seen all of this,. BUT, those are GREAT pictures.... thanks Gobogie for that- I'm saving them for future reference.... I didn't have a digital cam when I went through mine, plus, I did not remove the 1/4 glass- PITA either way, but, you DEFINATELY have a TON better access w/it out....

I am not a great typist . I will PM ya with my Phone #
In short Boston Acoustics up front I believe 751's
ADS in the rear (s7's )
Nac pa200 amp in front
Proton 250 rear amp.
This stuff is ancient but really top quality stuff ...
but it's the install I did that takes time to explain.

OK- if you're talking about the grill UNDER the armrest, which I assume you are, then, the WHOLE pocket comes off- just simple screws along the bottom edge- the pocket is the same pocket as used on all 944's- 968 is dif- has taller map pocket- anyway, the grill is simply screwed onto the backside of the pocket w/little screws....
The REAR grill is tough- you have to either remove the 1/4 window to gain access, which is the correct way to do it, as the panel is tucked into the window seal, OR, you pull the trim seal from the bottom, work it up to the bottom of the window height & just bend the HELL out of the panel- this is what I did- carefully.... then, if you want to remove the grill, it is screwed into the backside- it has a TON of them too- as if Porsche really thought it was gonna go somewhere.... oh yeah- there ARE a few screws in that panel that have to come out regardless of which method you use- they are along the edge & easy to soppt- only a couple of them...
OTHERWISE, the only other possible grill, for a 944, is the 4x6 grill at front of the panel- I'm not sure at all how it comes off, but, worst case would be to have to remove the door panel, which is very easy- the only tough thing here is replacing it in that there are three screws in the armrest- you have to angle them in right & screw them through just right... kind of a PITA, but, not too tough....
I guess I've covered all possibilities- if not, let me know & I'll see if I be of further help...
